SimplyScripts.com News Letter - April 23, 2003 |
Greetings Scriptarians!
It has been a bit slow here in the Scriptorium. Slow because I'm way behind in updating. There are a ton of unproduced scripts that I haven't gotten up. I hope to this weekend. There has been an interesting juxtaposition of new scripts on the 'Net. The Xed Man man put us on to Malibu's Most Wanted (in pdf format and thanks to The Daily Script). I read it and laughed and mentally put this movie into the must watch category. Shortly thereafter, Marie the Queen of finding scripts on the 'Net gave me the heads up on Nothing but a Man and suddenly Malibu's Most Wanted didn't seem so funny.
Marie also put me on to a couple of other scripts/transcripts from the golden age, Red Hot Romance (unspecified draft script, hosted by Kingrr's Home Page about Roland, who expects to inherit a fortune on his 25th birthday from his late father's insurance company. However, he finds himself sucked into an unlikely adventure involving international espionage and political assassination. (I hate when that happens). It is a satirical, politically incorrect, comedy thriller written by Anita Loos and John Emerson. It is directed by Victor ("The Wizard of Oz" & "Gone with the Wind") Fleming. (by the way, you wouldn't imagine how much more SimplyScripts would suck if it wasn't for Marie.) There is also an amusing short Insurance (script-like transcript in html format) hosted by Kingrr's Home Page. It is so bad that it is funny and it gives a hack like me hope and promise that someone will read my crap and produce it.
What else? Well, Twiz has up the pilot for 24.
More anon,
Don

I finally saw Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets. Like Max I'm a semi-Harry Potter fan, tho I've read all of the books and have Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix on order with my local independent bookseller, The Whistlestop Bookshop, I'm not freakish about the series. I do, however, enjoy both the books and the movies. It was a three bag of pop-corn movie that delivered some great escapist entertainment and was true to the original series.
