FADE IN

SOUTH AMERICA, RHOEMER'S JUNGLE LAB

EXT. DAY, SOUTH AMERICAN JUNGLE, DAY

The lush South American Jungle. Exotic animals,
vines, trees. Then, metal structures. An elaborate
and expensive jungle laboratory/compound.

The base is very large, with a techno-organic feel.

Six lab-houses, a corridor armed with gun-cams,
various patrolling guards, opposite look-out points.

Something's going on here...

INT. LAB HOUSE #1

Inside, ERICH RHOEMER and PROFESSOR YOHANNES, stand
by a computer that is displaying a DNA strand,
various bits of computer data.

Yohannes, typical professor, talks to Rhoemer, tanned
with a face that'd make lions cower. He listens as
the scientist explains.

			YOHANNES
The virus is nearly complete. This
is, without a doubt, my finest
	creation. Perfection.

			RHOEMER
		(smiling)
	Show me.

			YOHANNES
Very well, say you wanted to
	kill...60 Tibetan monks with Typhoid
	Fever within five days.
		(punches keys)
Just for fun, we'll target the brown-
	eyed members.

The scientist punches in a combination. The computer
displays two separate images, one reading "alpha
strain" and the other, "modified alpha strain".

The two strains then merge, creating a new image-
"Genetic variant strain, numerical value-60,
recessive gene trait-Type 2-strain selected, Typhoid
Fever, ready for use."

The scientist looks at Rhoemer for approval, he gets
it.

			RHOEMER
Excellent work, Doctor. You will be a
very rich man, and the architect of
	the future.

			YOHANNES
The money is of no matter to me now.
My life's work is nearly completed.

			RHOEMER
		(pleased and surprised)
I admire that trait, professor. One
should never use money as the measure
of his success. There are alternate
	ways to gauge one's achievements...

Rhoemer walks to a desk-phone, Yohannes calls him out
again.

			YOHANNES
One more thing. I'll need more
genetic coding data to finish the
	final sequence.

			RHOEMER
	You will encounter no difficulty
there, Professor. We will soon have
	access to that information.

			YOHANNES
I would advise testing it as well.

			RHOEMER
Agreed. I believe your example will
	suit a test site nicely.
		(sinister grin)
Send the sequences to my base, and
scrub the hard drive. We leave in
	twenty minutes.

Professor Yohannes sits down at the computer.
Rhoemer picks up the phone, hits a button. It rings.

			RHOEMER
Now to take care of a final
	matter...

			FEMALE VOICE(VO)
	Yes?

			RHOEMER
Mara, get Ellis-I wish to see him
	immediately. Yes, it is done--tell
everyone else to pack up, we have a
	20-minute deadline. Rhoemer out.

A man dressed in jungle fatigues, shades, DANIEL
ELLIS, spies on Rhoemer's location. He lip-reads the
words from Rhoemer, runs to a radio.

INT. LAB HOUSE #2

He scans the frequencies fast--not much time.

			ELLIS
	Come on...

Daniel reaches the frequency, starts talking.

			ELLIS
Benton, this is Ellis, soup is hot
and ready to go! Repeat. Soup is hot
and ready to go. Requesting evac,
	over?

Static.

Ellis frantically adjusts the controls but the signal
is lost.

Footsteps. Someone's approaching.

He scrambles the radio.

			ELLIS
	Shit...

A red-haired woman walks in, MARA ARAMOV, beautiful
in fatigues, lethal with her handgun.

She gives Ellis a half-lustful look.

			ARAMOV
		(Russian Accent)
Daniel? Rhoemer wants to see you
	immediately.
		(notices radio scrambled)
	What were you doing?

			ELLIS
	Oh...Just checking in with the
	perimeter.

			ARAMOV
	 (look of suspicion)
	Very well. Let's go.

			ELLIS
	Fine, I'm coming.

Ellis grabs his bag, goes to the door. Mara turns on
the radio, sees the frequency.

			ARAMOV
		(questioning)
	What is this frequency?

			ELLIS
Damn, you're paranoid. It's to the
opposite outpost. Come on, I've been
here for what? Six months! And you
	still don't trust me?
		(fake charm, smiles)
Baby, could I lie to you?

Ellis' voice is cool, but he sweats. Mara looks at
him, she knows something's amiss, but lets it go.

			ARAMOV
Fine, I didn't know the frequency had
	changed again. Come on, Rhoemer
	wants to see you.

They walk out.

INT. MAIN LAB HOUSE

Ellis and Mara enter through a side office.

Rhoemer sits behind a desk, looking calm. He sees his
friends, rises, hugs Ellis.

			RHOEMER
We are almost finished kamerad. The
virus is the ultimate bio-weapon and
merely the beginning of my grand
vision. You are invaluable to me,
	Ellis....

			ELLIS
		(curious)
	Thank you.

			RHOEMER
However, there is a slight problem
that came to my attention a short
	while ago.

			ELLIS
	What is it?

Rhoemer walks to the computer, pulls up all the audio
files.

			RHOEMER
	Remember the audio-tracking system
you proposed? Well, I had Kravich
install it three months ago. I
believe I forgot to tell everyone.
But, you'll never guess what I heard
	a few minutes ago.

"Play". A recording of Ellis sending the last message
plays.

His cover's blown. Mara, angry, puts her gun to
Ellis' head. He becomes stubborn, frightful. End of
the road.

			RHOEMER
Funny that your end would come like
this. And this was merely added
	evidence towards you.

			ELLIS
		(shocked)
	What?

			RHOEMER
A shame that you'll never know, eh?
However, you have forced me to speed
up my timetable. Logan is surely on
his way, but he won't be here fast
	enough for you.

Mara scornfully looks at Ellis one last time.

			ARAMOV
		(to Ellis)
	Since we're revealing secrets, size
	does matter.

Ellis laughs.

			ELLIS
Mara, a crater is a tighter fit than
	you.

Damn. Mara didn't like that.

			RHOEMER
		(cold & brutal, to Mara)
	Bring him to the helipad.

Mara takes him out of the room. A man in full body-
armor, boots, welding mask busts past her--ANTON
GIRDEAUX. He raises the mask, his face embodies
French arrogance.

			GIRDEAUX
		(heavy French accent)
	The packages have been moved,
	everything is ready. What next?

Rhoemer smirks at his lieutenant.

			RHOEMER
We get to have some fun.

Girdeaux's eyes harden.

EXT. ONE MILE FROM JUNGLE BASE ENTRANCE

As Rhoemer suspected, two people in jungle fatigues
have landed at the outside of his camp.

The first agent, GABRIEL LOGAN, loads a 9mm. He looks
at the second agent, LIAN XING, with her combat
shotgun. She loads it; she handled this type of gun
before.

			LOGAN
	Ready?

			XING
	Always.

Gabe puts his hand to his earpiece.

			LOGAN
Benton, this is Logan, Lian and I
have landed safely. We're about 200
	yards from Ellis' position.

With some static in the background, he receives
instructions.

			BENTON(VO)
Rendezvous with Ellis and call for
	pick-up.

			LOGAN
	Got it, out.
		(to Lian)
	Let's get dirty.

They navigate towards the camp, cautious of traps.
Lian is about to take a step forward when Gabe stops
her. He senses something.

			LOGAN
	Be careful. This feels wrong...

			XING
	 (looking at mini-GPS readout)
The thermals on this place are off
the charts. Let's go in closer.

The two agents move in, taking cover behind the
vegetation. Gabe pulls out a scope, zooms in on the
base.

EXT. JUNGLE BASE ENTRANCE

Men with machine guns set fire to various
greenhouses.

			LOGAN
	That explains the thermals...they're
	trying to cover up something.

Turning his scope, Gabe sees five bound workers, one
guard. The guard looks unaware. He hands Lian the
scope, cocks the 9mm.

			LOGAN
		(quietly)
	Shit.
		(aiming 9mm)
He's going to kill the workers. Not
	today...

All of a sudden, Lian taps him.

			XING
	Negative. Look.

Gabe lowers his gun, looks again. He sees his first
target, Girdeaux, walk up, stop at the workers.

EXT. WORKER AREA

Girdeaux lifts his gun at the terrified workers.

			GIRDEAUX
Do not scared, mis compadres, Rhoemer
has ordered me to release you all.

			GUARD #1
	What?

			GIRDEAUX
	Do as I say!

The guard takes a machete from his back, cuts the
ropes.

			GIRDEAUX
		(in Spanish)
	Sus Libertad! You are free!

The workers cannot believe it! They smile, start to
leave.

The second they're turned around, Girdeaux calmly
kills them. Never believe a henchman.

Gabe sees this, lowers the scope, clenched fists.

			GIRDEAUX
		(to guard)
	That...was beautiful.

The two men move out towards the back of the base.

EXT. JUNGLE BASE ENTRANCE

Gabe watches them leave, then motions for Lian to go.
He follows. Stops. Hears a low *mmmmm*.

			LOGAN
	Wait.

He picks up a stick, tosses it into the entrance.
It's shot to pieces by a laser.

			XING
	Perfect. Gun-cams. Got a-

			LOGAN
		(pulls out a chaff grenade)
	Right here. On three. 1...2...3!

He throws the grenade, it explodes on impact.

Thousands of bright particles surround the air,
causing the gun-cams to malfunction.

They run inside to survey the area.

EXT. JUNGLE BASE AREA

The base burns. Gabe is frustrated--there's nothing
here.

No men, no evidence, no Ellis.

			LOGAN
Where is he? These are the
	coordinates Ellis sent...

EXT. HELIPAD

Rhoemer and Mara are in front of a chopper. Ellis is
on his knees, Mara's gun to his head.

			ARAMOV
This is the proper position, is it
	not my love?

			RHOEMER
	Finish him and let's move.

			ARAMOV
	With pleasure!

One shot. *BLAM*

EXT. JUNGLE BASE AREA

Both agents hear, rush to the noise. As they run,
Lian sees a chopper flying overhead. They run through
the deserted Jungle Lab area to a Helipad.

EXT. HELIPAD

They find Ellis with a bullet wound to the head. Gabe
leans down, recognizing his friend.

			XING
	My god, Is that--?

			LOGAN
		(regretful)
	Yes, it's Ellis. Executed....

Gabe has a look of sorrow, then vengeance on his
face. He closes Ellis' eyelids. Lian watches, Gabe
stands.

They both walk back to the Jungle Lab area silently.

EXT. BURNING JUNGLE LAB HOUSES

Lian walks into one of the burnt-out lab houses while
Gabe observes the area.

			XING
		(looking around)
There's nothing left to even salvage
here. I don't know what they were
	growing, but it wasn't narcotics...

			LOGAN
		(thinking)
Shit. Rhoemer knew we were coming,
	Lian.

			XING
	What now?

			LOGAN
We keep our eyes peeled for some kind
	of outbreak. Call for evac.

Lian calls for their transport.

			XING
	This is Agent Xing, authorization
	code 6880, requesting pickup.
		(pauses)
	Negative, just two. Out.

They move to the rendezvous point.

				FADE OUT

AGENCY HEADQUARTERS, WASHINGTON D.C.

INT. AGENCY HEADQUARTERS, NIGHT

A state of the art facility, complete with computers,
scientists, researchers, the whole nine.

The bodyguards walk around stone-faced, carrying
silenced HK-5's and M-16's. One office is more
guarded than the others.

INT. AGENCY HEADQUARTERS-MARKINSON' OFFICE

A man with a black suit, shades, THOMAS MARKINSON. He
and Lian stand and discuss the botched raid.

			XING
As you can see from these specs sir,
	Rhoemer was working on something.
I'm not sure what it was, definitely
	not drug-related.

			MARKINSON
Damn. He beat us on this one, Lian.

Markinson sits.

			MARKINSON
	Anyhow, we'll discuss this further
when Logan and Benton get here. How
	is he?

Lian hesitates for a moment, then speaks.

			XING
As well as can be expected, sir. You
know how close he and Ellis were.

			MARKINSON
I see. Do you believe this will
impair his judgment or limit his
	abilities?

			XING
No, and even if it did, he'd still
	accomplish the mission.

Markinson nods.

			MARKINSON
	Good. Angry?

			XING
Mad enough to take out an army of
	terrorists.

			MARKINSON
Hmm...well, you've got to calm him
	down, then, don't you.

			XING
	Absolutely.

Lian's face expresses friendship and...some amount of
lust. Markinson catches it.

			MARKINSON
	 (smirking)
I can see you will have no difficulty
	with this assignment.

Lian blushes, returns to normal. The computer alerts
Markinson to two visitors.

			VOICE
	Edward Benton, Agency Director and
	Commander Gabriel Logan requesting
	access.

			MARKINSON
	Granted, send them in.

EDWARD BENTON, a tall black man with glasses, gives
Gabe an operations update.

			BENTON
	--Number of foreign nationals getting
into our country the last few weeks,
	despite the heightened security.

			LOGAN
	Sounds like something big is
happening. It has to be Rhoemer.

Gabe sees Lian and Markinson.

			MARKINSON
	Agent Logan.

			LOGAN
	Markinson.

			MARKINSON
Logan, Lian's told me what we have.

			LOGAN
Yea, thighs and wings, but no
	chicken.

			BENTON
	That's right.

			LOGAN
		(to Lian)
	Hmm...there was nothing in those
	files you retrieved?

			MARKINSON
	We're still decoding the information.
	What are you thinking Logan?

			LOGAN
Thinking that you should've kept him
	on a tighter leash.

Markinson looks over at him, curious.

			BENTON
What the hell are you talking about?
He was given the same license as you
are. Him going rogue couldn't be
	seen.

Gabe has heard this before, but it doesn't matter.

			LOGAN
Yea, right up to the moment where he
wiped out the rest of his team and
	disappeared with fifty million in
	drug money two years ago.

Lian concurs.

			XING
Enough to hire his team and start his
	own campaign of terrorism.

			MARKINSON
Our first decent lead since London
	and we get a donut.
		(to Benton)
	Go find him, Ed. Now!

Benton exits. Markinson looks at Logan, pacing.

			MARKINSON
	Logan, has Ellis' death affected
you? We know what losing someone can
do to you. Do you still feel up to
	the challenge?

While Markinson speaks, Gabe remembers the rifle
range, double dates, bars...until...

			XING
		(shouting)
	Logan!

He looks up; face remorseful, but determined.

			LOGAN
Yes. I'm up for it. This time
	Rhoemer...is mine.

Markinson's phone rings. He answers. he eyes widen,
shocked at something. He gets off and immediately
tells Gabe and Lian.

			MARKINSON
That was CBDC. An unknown virus has
	obliterated an entire village in
Tibet. The officials there say it's
	unlike anything they've ever seen.
You two are going in to check it out--
this may be one of Rhoemer's tests.

			XING
Let's move, we probably don't have
	much time.

Lian exits the room. Gabe begins to leave, Markinson
stops him.

			MARKINSON
	Agent Logan, hold your temper.

			LOGAN
	Of course.

Gabe exits the room, slams the door. Markinson laughs
once, then presses a button on his desk.

Seconds later, a well-dressed MAN emerges from behind
the wall.

			MAN
	Just the necessities. Very good.

			MARKINSON
	 (looking at satellite photos)
Thank you. This shows the infected
	area.
(points to an are on the map)
Logan is my best agent; he has the
highest level of training and years
of field experience. What do you
	want to do?

			MAN
		(stern, cautious)
Nothing. We will wait and see what
he can discover. Proceed as planned.

DECIMATED VILLAGE

EXT. DOMOND, TIBET, DAY

A helicopter flies slowly through heavy snow. It
comes to an area where various CBDC(U.S. Chemical &
Biological Defense Command) personnel are.

They're in biohazard suits, running around
frantically taking data, checking bodies.

INT. HELICOPTER

Gabe and Lian in arctic biohazard gear, ready for the
unknown.

			XING
	You gonna be okay?

			LOGAN
I'll be fine, stop worrying mom.

Lian smiles and flips him off, the helicopter lands.

The PILOT gives them instructions.

			PILOT
	You've got 20 minutes.

			LOGAN
Give it a rest. We'll be back.

Gabe and Lian hop out.

EXT. DECIMATED VILLAGE

The lead official, INSPECTOR SOLOMON, sees new faces,
walks up to them.

			INSPECTOR SOLOMON
	Who are you?

			LOGAN
I'm Sergeant Miller, and this is my
	partner-Viola Choir.

Lian flashes a smile, walks away. Gabe takes the man
aside.

			INSPECTOR SOLOMON
		(curious)
	What organization are you from?

			LOGAN
	Bio-weapons, U.S. army. We're going
to look around some, feel free to
	ignore us.

The Inspector's curious, but Sergeant Miller walks
away.

He follows to question further, but a man runs up to
him carrying papers. Gabe walks over to Lian is,
stands by her side.

			XING
	Why? There's nothing special about
	this place, it's just-

			LOGAN
	An innocent village. There's his
reason, Lian. This is the last
	fucking straw.

The agents separate. Gabe questions an official.

EXT. SNOWY HILL

On a small snowy hill, Lian examines a body. She
leans over, then she gets excited. She shouts over to
Gabe.

			XING
		(shouts)
	Logan, come here!

Gabe runs over, kneels down next to Lian.

			LOGAN
I've just talked to the supervisor.
	Almost everyone within a 5-mile
radius is dead. At least five days.
They don't know by what, but it was
	fast-

			XING
Logan, this man isn't dead! Help me
	move him!

Gabe, astonished, helps Lian move him to a tent.

INT. TENT

Many doctors begin their examination. One DOCTOR
notices something.

			DOCTOR
Blue eyes. That's strange for a monk.

Gabe and Lian step outside.

EXT. TENT ENTRANCE

			LOGAN
Lian, you said this man was still
	alive? How is that possible?

			XING
	It's not.

The Pilot runs up to them.

			PILOT
		(shouts)
	Sir, Markinson's ordered an immediate
	retrieval! Code: Tainted Soil!

Gabe reacts instantly to what he says, both agents
run towards the chopper.

			LOGAN
	  SHIT! Let's go Lian!

They board the chopper.

INT. HELICOPTER

During take off, Lian turns to Gabe.

			XING
Who do you think it could be?

			LOGAN
An act of terrorist aggression on
	U.S. soil? Guess.

			XING
Shit...I hope we're not too late.

			LOGAN
		(grim)
	So do I.

The helicopter takes off with a flash.

RHOEMER DC ASSAULT

EXT. GEORGIA AVENUE, DUSK

The bustling D.C. street is live at rush hour. People
walk around, laughing, enjoying the nice summer day.
Some people notice a MAN in a long trench coat. Must
be cold.

The Man walks into MIGUEL'S, a local hangout by a
subway.

INT. MIGUEL'S

The huge, spacious bar has an east coast, lower
echelon feel.

The Man, LIONEL KRAVICH, walks to the back.

Six men with three oversized suitcases sit at a
table. Some action goes on around them, a patrons
accidentally kicks one the suitcases. One of the men
is not pleased.

			DRUNK MAN
	Sorry buddy!
		(noticing suitcases)
	Going on a trip?

			TERRORIST #1
No. But if you touch my suitcase
	again, you'll have a one-way ticket
	to hell.

			DRUNK MAN
	Easy buddy, I'm Catholic...

The drunk man stumbles off. They all are calm,
Kravich waits for something. His watch goes off.

			KRAVICH
	Secure the bar.

The men move, two go to the front and back, two
remain at the table for a moment.

			KRAVICH
	All systems check...The com-link is
	up...call him.

			TERRORIST #2
	 (pulls out cell phone)
	Got it.
		(to phone)
Sir, we are ready and in place.

INT. CROWDED SUBWAY--RUSH HOUR

Another trench coat talks in to his cell phone. He
turns around.

Rhoemer.

He nods to a another man across the terminal. The man
sees the signal, nods to thirty of his comrades.

A couple of people notice, look on nervously. This
can't be happening...

They all stand. Five of the men pull out assault
rifles, fire into the air. People scream in terror.
Time to leave!

They pour out of the subway.

INT. MIGUEL'S

People see the exodus from the subway, look on with
dread.

The TV shows a CNN special report bulletin. Anchorman
RONNIE DIXON is live.

			RONNIE DIXON
	Ladies and Gentlemen, we interrupt
our regular programming to bring you
this breaking story. We have received
this video from renegade U.S. agent
	Erich Rhoemer.

Some people exit the bar, while others watch.
Kravich's men are in position.

			RONNIE DIXON
		(con't)
Many top CIA officials thought him
	dead after the disastrous hijacking
	of British Airways Flight 332,
	obviously proved otherwise now. Here
	is the video.

			RHOEMER (VIDEO)
Hello Washington D.C., I am Erich
Rhoemer. I am called many other
things by your media, but I don't
	believe in keeping a publicist.

Kravich's men fire in the air. The bar empties faster
than a free buffet.

The TV doesn't notice, keeps broadcasting.

			RHOEMER
I possess a weapon that will lead us
into the future. What kind of future
depends on the actions of my former
employers. Unless the amount of one
	hundred billion dollars is
transferred to the accounts numbers I
provided in five hours time, these
	will detonate.

He motions to a large bomb, along with 4 smaller
ones.

			RHOEMER
There are enough viral antigens in
this bomb to kill everyone within a
100-mile radius. Needless to say, the
	death toll will be...
		(smiles)
	...catastrophic...and not entirely
	unfortunate. I hope your government
	will comply.
		(begins to fade out)
A new age is upon us!

INT. SUBWAY LOWER LEVEL

While Rhoemer talks, his troops set up camp in the
now-deserted subway and adjoining tunnels.

In teams of two, the men program mini-viral bombs,
set them for five hours.

INT. BANK BUILDING

A traditional bank. Three men inside arm a bomb.

			TERRORIST
Nichol, we are in a bank. Why not
	take advantage of it?

			NICHOL
No. That is not the plan. He would
	have us shot.

			TERRORIST
You are right, Nichol. I wonder how
	Herr Girdeaux is faring?

EXT. WASHINGTON PARK

Washington Park is beautiful on a hot summer day. Not
for long.

Forty-five of Rhoemer's men storm the park in a
perfectly timed ambush. Climbing over walls, coming
out of bathrooms, his men are everywhere!

Girdeaux leads them, wielding his flame-thrower,
machine gun. They think Washington Park is a gunnery
range, with officers as targets. The terrorists
rarely miss.

Within seconds, the park is theirs. At two locations,
they set up mini-viral bombs in the park.

Girdeaux is inside Freedom Memorial to guard the main
viral bomb, when JORGE MARCOS runs in. Latin, brown
jacket, looks worried.

			MARCOS
		(bated breath, Spanish accent)
Anton, We have a problem! The police
	have begun to counter-attack! They
have already killed at least six of
	our men!

A smirk appears on the Frenchman's face. He stands,
lifts his flame-thrower.

			GIRDEAUX
	 (putting on face-mask)
I shall be a good sport and go play
with these children. Where are they?

			MARCOS
	At the main gate!

			GIRDEAUX
Recall your men to the area of the
first bomb, and tell them do not
	approach. I will handle these
idiots...it is time for America to
know why I am called the Red Baron!

Girdeaux slams a fresh clip into his gun.

EXT. WASHINGTON PARK MAIN GATE, NIGHT

A large brick and concrete wall surrounds the
entrance.

A group of police and two swat teams move towards the
gate. The S.W.A.T. CAPTAIN spots a shadow atop a
stone pillar.

Girdeaux. Mask down, itchy trigger fingers.

The S.W.A.T. teams cock their weapons.

			S.W.A.T. CAPTAIN
	You! On the ground NOW!

			S.W.A.T. TEAM MEMBER #2
	Do it, asshole!

			S.W.A.T. TEAM MEMBER #3
	Don't be stupid!

Girdeaux looks at his opposition, readies his gun.

			GIRDEAUX
		(shouts)
I will give you ten seconds to leave
	with your lives!

The police look at him with curiosity, then anger.

Who does this guy think he is?

			S.W.A.T. CAPTAIN
	He's not moving! Drop him!

The SWAT team members and police fire. The bullets
bounce off of Girdeaux.

			GIRDEAUX
		(enraged)
	Fools!

He fires his machine gun, scatters the cops, killing
four. He puts his gun away, unleashes his flame-
thrower.

The cops fire back at him-no effect.

Girdeaux laughs, jumps down to the ground, fires his
flame-thrower in all directions.

The Red Baron alternates between the gun and flame-
thrower, annihilating his foes.

Immune to bullets, perfect aim, one cop knows who he
is.

			COP
	It's the Terminator!

Girdeaux sees him, decides on the gun.

			GIRDEAUX
	Having fun yet?!
		(laughs maniacally)

One SWAT member gets close to Girdeaux, jumps to
tackle him. He kicks him the chest. The man,
stunned, struggles to his feet. A cloud of flame
engulfs him.

			GIRDEAUX
	You're fired!!

The one-man war continues. More men fall from the
barrage.

Girdeaux puts away the weapons. He wants to feel a
neck break. An officer kicks Girdeaux from the back.
He turns around, annoyed.

			GIRDEAUX
	Next time, run.

Girdeaux punches him in the chest, the cop crumbles
to his knees. A swift kick to his neck-*SNAP*, one
cop left.

The last cop. He fires until-*CLICK*-nothing left.

Girdeaux stops in his tracks, readies his flame-
thrower.

			GIRDEAUX
	Au revoir!

A pillar of fire reflects from the cops eyes.

FADE OUT TO A LIT MATCH

Being held by Markinson, who's lighting his pipe.

INT. AGENCY HEADQUARTERS-MARKINSON' OFFICE

Benton, Gabe, Markinson and Lian all talk.

On-screen, reconnaissance photos of the area scroll
across; while the computer voice announces updates.

Gabe, Lian and Benton are in urban combat gear, while
Markinson has on his trademark black suit.

The two agents take in the scenery, while Benton
gives mission parameters. Markinson looks highly
upset that their intelligence was fooled.

			BENTON
They are heavily armed, expect every
kind of heavy weapon you can think of-
	MAKS', AK-47's, possibly some K3G4's.
	It won't be easy.

			LOGAN
		(sarcastic)
Just perfect. At least you found him.

Benton shoots Logan a cold stare, he returns it.
Markinson intercedes.

			MARKINSON
There are at least 75 terrorists
between the main viral bomb and their
	communications link base. We got
	this from the subway security
	monitors.

The terrorists have one bomb set up. Gabe and Lian
take notes on the area, preparing for the battle
ahead.

			LOGAN
		(looking at screen)
This doesn't make sense. Why hasn't
he shown up again to ask for his
	demands? Remember London? He always
	has another plan in mind.

			BENTON
Worry about that later, you have a
deadline to meet. The President is
	spooked enough to pay him.

			LOGAN
	You're kidding.

			BENTON
		(slight smile)
Nope. Air Force One is airborne now.
		(notices Xing looking at the
	screen)
	Lian?

On-screen, Kravich walks behind Mara and Rhoemer.

			XING
		(points to Kravich)
	Who's that following Mara and
	Rhoemer?

			BENTON
	That's Lionel Kravich, his
	technological expert.

Gabe recognizes the name.

			LOGAN
Sergio's son? Terrorism must run in
	the family.

			BENTON
	Not surprising. He's set-up a main
	communication array in Washington
Park. We assume there's a back up,
	location unknown.
		(looks toward Logan)
I guess I owe you an apology. Maybe
if you get through this mission, I'll
	give it to you.

Gabe doesn't care.

			LOGAN
	When does the operation begin?

			BENTON
	Immediately. CBDC is already on
	search and diffuse, I'm sending
Jensen to lead the park operation.
	You're our trigger.

			MARKINSON
	The targets are Girdeaux, Kravich,
Mara and Rhoemer. You also must
protect any CBDC agent trying to
diffuse a viral bomb. We believe
there are at least three, maybe
	more.

			BENTON
	 (points to Lian)
You're tech support as usual. Use the
	agency's dedicated frequency for all
	updates.

The photos continue to scroll, There's commotion
outside as the Agency goes into overdrive. Benton
continues.

			BENTON
Jensen's team moves in 20 minutes. We
got a report that two SWAT teams and
20 police officers were wiped out
	earlier. It was Girdeaux.

			LOGAN
	Shit...what about Rhoemer?

			BENTON
That subway video is an hour old, he
	might be gone-

Gabe knows better.

			LOGAN
No. He wants his money or death.
	He'll be around, somewhere.

			BENTON
I'm going to Mount Weather. Good
	luck, people.

He leaves.

			LOGAN
He's definitely out of harm's way.

			MARKINSON
Focus, agent Logan. We have full
	jurisdiction for this operation. Both
the FEMA units and the CBDC agents,
	that's why Benton's leaving.

			LOGAN
I'm ready. Do the locals know what
	they're dealing with?

			MARKINSON
	They do now.

INT. HELICOPTER

A black helicopter flies Gabe and Lian to the strike
zone, a.k.a. Georgia Avenue. Gabe has his standard
equipment, Lian checks their com-link.

Below, CBDC agents wear biohazard suits, battling the
terrorists to a standstill. The clock's ticking...

			XING
Ok. I'm your tech support. You ready?

			LOGAN
	Always. Drop me in.

			PILOT
	Good luck.

Gabe smirks.

			LOGAN
Thanks, but I prefer skill. I'll see
	you when it's over.

He finds a spot to hover, Gabe cocks his silenced 9mm
pistol, checks his earpiece, jumps out of the
chopper.

GEORGIA AVENUE

EXT. GEORGIA AVENUE

He lands, the chopper takes off. Showtime.

Firefights pierce his ears from all directions. Many
terrorists scream phrases in German and Russian.
Bullets *ZING* everywhere, a police car explodes in
the distance.

Gabe begins to run over, is stopped by CBDC AGENT
CARTER. He drops three terrorists with body shots,
takes cover while Agent Carter updates him.

			AGENT CARTER
		(shouting)
Logan! We need help and bad!
		(pulls out a viral locator)
There's a viral bomb two blocks east
that we can't get to, another in the
subway. But that's not the strange
	thing!

More terrorists appear, fire at their position. Gabe
returns fire, turns to Carter.

			LOGAN
	What is it?

			AGENT CARTER
	 (pointing to MIGUEL'S)
That area is heavily guarded for some
	reason, any thoughts?

			LOGAN
I'll worry about it later, let's go.
You have a bomb to diffuse!

Agent Carter grits his teeth.

			AGENT CARTER
	Ok. I'm ready.

Gabe doesn't respond, looks at the Carter's viral
detector. He returns fire, goes into an alley.
Carter follows closely, fires for cover.

EXT. GEORGIA AVENUE SIDE STREET

The end of the alley, they're on an open street. A
firefight's around the corner. They run towards it,
shots rain down from the rooftops.

Gabe spots three. He pushes the agent into a crevice.

			LOGAN
	Be right back.

He runs into the street. He fires at two, tosses a
grenade at their location. He rolls into a crouch
behind a garbage can. The explosion sends them flying
over the edge.

The third terrorist sees his comrades go down, stands
up firing.

			TERRORIST #3
	Di--!

He is cut off as Gabe shoots him between the eyes.

			LOGAN
	You first.
		(motioning to Agent Carter)
	Move!

Agent Carter hears runs behind Gabe. They turn the
corner.

Three terrorists besting two CBDC agents behind two
cars.

A fourth terrorist is on the rooftop with a rocket
launcher. Gabe yells.

			LOGAN
	Shit! Look out!

The CBDC agents don't hear him. The terrorist fires
with devastating results. The two cars explode,
taking the agents with them.

The terrorists turn their attention towards Gabe and
Agent Carter, firing wildly. Gabe pulls out a device
that looks like a mini-disc recorder.

			AGENT CARTER
This is no time for music!

He presses a button. A holographic image of Gabe
appears, runs out in the street, fires.

All the terrorists fire at the hologram. Gabe rolls
out, kills them with bullet rhythm, one-two-three.

They run into the bank.

INT. BANK BUILDING

The remnants of a fierce firefight, bodies and bullet
holes.

Gabe and Carter run onto the main floor. The viral
locator indicates the bomb is behind a large
pillar.

Gabe doesn't notice the corridor to the left, where
two feet step out of view.

			AGENT CARTER
There it is, I'll handle this.

			LOGAN
	Got it. Hurry up.

Agent Carter diffuses the bomb, Gabe senses something
isn't right. He looks around, finds some blood,
realizes where the terrorist is.

Gabe runs out, as the terrorist appears behind
Carter. He stands up, unaware of the assassin behind
him.

			AGENT CARTER
	Bomb diffused! Let's go--uhhh!

Agent Carter drops to the floor, shot in the heart.
Gabe returns fire, rushes over to shaking Carter.

			LOGAN
	Carter! Are you hurt badly?
		(Checks his wound)
	Damn.

			AGENT CARTER
	 (hoarse)
	I'm...going to die, aren't I?

Gabe is silent.

			AGENT CARTER
You'll have to locate the bombs,
	now...take this.
		(hands him the viral locator)
Just use this near the bomb, and it
will send a signal out to the nearest
	CBDC agent. They'll know what,
		(coughs)
	to do...uhhh....

Agent Carter dies in his arms. Gabe closes his
eyelids, takes the locator, exits. While running back
towards Miguel's, Lian calls him.

EXT. GEORGIA AVENUE ALLEY

			XING(V.O.)
Logan, are you there? Come in.

			LOGAN
I'm here Lian. One bomb down.

			XING
Copy that. Be ready for anything,
	Markinson says that FEMA is
	scrambling emergency personnel the
strike zone, so expect some kind of
	reinforcements. You'll still have to
	protect the agents though.

			LOGAN
	Done. Any word on Rhoemer?

			XING
	Not yet. Xing out.

			LOGAN
	Copy.

Gabe runs back towards MIGUEL'S. He rounds the
corner, three terrorists wait for him. They fire
immediately. He takes cover, gets an idea.

The terrorists move in, thinking he's still there.
As they close the distance, a nearby terrace shakes.
The men ignore it.

When they get to the spot, a grenade's waiting for
them.

			TERRORIST
	ACH!

Around the corner, Gabe hears the explosion, smiles.
MIGUEL'S straight ahead.

EXT. MIGUEL'S ENTRANCE

He runs in, hears interference.

			XING(VO)
	Logan? I'm getting interference, but
	there's no detectable electronics in
	the area.

			LOGAN
	 (whispering)
	It's Kravich. Radio silence--now.

Gabe enters the bar.

INT. MIGUEL'S HALLWAY

He sneaks around several corners. Two men are in the
area.

He holsters his 9mm, pulls out a taser instead. One
of the men walks towards him. He stops for a moment
to light a cigarette.

Gabe creeps behind the man. The smoker turns, Gabe
puts the taser in his chest.

			LOGAN
	Those things will kill ya.

The lit cigarette falls to the ground, Gabe sneaks
on. At the end of the corridor, a gruff voice talks
to two men.

INT. MIGUEL'S MAIN ROOM

An elegant room with tables and bar. Three terrorists
surround a miniature satellite dish. Kravich gives
final instructions.

			KRAVICH
I'm going to the subway to supervise
	operations with Rhoemer. I've already
sent the codes, so just make sure
	it's undamaged.

Gabe, still hiding, upholsters his gun for a Kravich
head shot. But another terrorist spots him.

			TERRORIST #4
	Alert!

He fires. Gabe dives into the room behind a marble
pillar. The terrorists shoot at the unwelcome guest.

			LOGAN
		(looks, reloads)
	Shit!

			KRAVICH
	 (pulls out AK-47)
Logan! I was wondering when the
	Agency would get involved.

Gabe shoots in front of him, killing the whistle-
blower.

Kravich peeks out, motions his comrade to move ahead.

			KRAVICH
I'm impressed. they even sent their
best...Too bad it won't be enough!

			LOGAN
		(taking cover)
Of course not. But your father knows
better. Find any more pieces besides
	his ear?

Kravich is enraged.

			KRAVICH
	   Sonofabitch!
		(fires wildly)

Gabe takes cover, sees the other terrorist fire from
around the corner. Gabe sneaks around his position,
whistles. The terrorist turns. Bye-bye.

Kravich stands again--but there's no sign of Gabe.
Kravich walks cautiously, then realizes that Gabe
above him.

			LOGAN
	Like father, like son.

			KRAVICH
	No--!

Gabe fires twice, but Kravich only hears one.

He flips down, runs to the back of the bar to the
satellite dish and various receivers. He operates the
computer, pulls up a list of frequencies. He looks at
the information, calls Lian.

			LOGAN
Lian, tell Benton I've taken out
Kravich. Rhoemer's in the subway, I'm
	headed there next.

			XING(VO)
Good work, Gabe. Hook me in.

Gabe puts his com-link to the base of the computer.

			LOGAN
	I also found Rhoemer's communications
array but their uplink isn't here.

INT. HELICOPTER

The copter hovers over the strike zone. Lian hacks
Kravich's laptop, she gets something strange.

			XING
	Interesting.

			LOGAN(V.O.)
	What is it?

			XING
He got access to a corporation
	database. Looks like genetic data.

INT. MIGUEL'S

Gabe looks around, expecting company.

			LOGAN
Tell me about it later. Ready to
	trace?

			XING(VO)
	How many numbers are there?

His eyes count seven.

			LOGAN
	Seven of them.

			XING
Shit, some of those are ghost codes.
Let me have high and low numbers.

			LOGAN
	Eighty-nine point seven and seventy-
	six point four.

			XING
	I'm on it.

			LOGAN
	Logan out.

Gabe prepares to leave, some terrorists rush the
doorway. He looks beside him, Kravich's HK-5
beckons.

He picks up the gun, lets them have it. Rolls, caps
two, pushes off the opposite wall to get the others.

He runs outside to the subway, sneaks down.

INT. SUBWAY LOWER LEVEL

Rhoemer, Mara, and two other terrorists stand
guarding the bomb. His men patrol the subway. The
mastermind is confident.

			RHOEMER
		(calm, to Mara)
Everything is going to plan. Girdeaux
has the park contained, the main
	bomb's armed.

Aramov nods.

			RHOEMER
Best of all, the incompetence of the
	U.S. governments' special forces is
	exactly what I expected.

			ARAMOV
I wonder if the Agency has sent their
	operatives yet.

			RHOEMER
I would expect so, but unless Logan
can get past Girdeaux, the viral bomb
will go off as planned--regardless of
	payment.

Mara looks at her watch.

			ARAMOV
	Hmm....where is Kravich?

			RHOEMER
	Good question--he should have been
	here by now.
		(to Maivik)
Call him. Luckily, he already sent
	what we came for.

While Maivik dials, Rhoemer walks over to another
viral bomb.

			RHOEMER
	Brilliance...I-

			MAIVIK
	Commander, I cannot contact him!
	Nothing but static!

Mara walks over to Maivik's station.

			ARAMOV
	Are you sure?

			MAIVIK
	Yes, I have tried all
	channels...nothing!

			RHOEMER
		(angry, grits his teeth)
Then Logan is on his way here...

Rhoemer looks at the bomb, smiles.

			RHOEMER
	This bomb will greet him.

He turns it sideways carefully, motions Maivik over.

			RHOEMER
Maivik, come and help me with the
	reconfiguration.

Maivik walks over.

INT. SUBWAY UPPER LEVEL

Gabe sneaks down to the subway. An enemy at the
doorway. He pauses, head shot.

Gabe goes forward. Two guards on opposite routes on
the other side. He climbs up the ledge, walks behind
one.

He pulls out his taser, clicks three times. The guard
turns, eyes wide as he notices Gabe.

			TERRORIST
	What th-

A taser-line to the chest makes him extra-crispy.

			LOGAN
	Shocked, huh?

The second terrorist hears a muffled cry, runs around
the corner, into Gabe's fist. He falls. A taser-
charge later, Gabe moves on to the service elevator.
Going down.

INT. SUBWAY LOWER LEVEL

Gabe steps out of the elevator, silently moves to the
end of the corridor.

A terrorist idly stands by the track exit. Head shot.
Gabe runs, comes onto the main subway area. He hops
on the tracks.

One idle subway car behind him, another across. He
keeps his head low, peeks over the top of the
platform.

Two terrorists, one by the bench, another patrolling.
He backs up a couple of steps, takes aim with his HK-
5.

But inside the idle subway car...

INT. SUBWAY CAR

Rhoemer and some of his men are making their way to
the front.

			RHOEMER
The decoy is prepped. Tell the men to
pull out now and move to the subway
	tunnel.

Rhoemer looks, makes sure all his men are present.

			RHOEMER
		(looking at his men)
	We have everyone? Goo-
		(turning, his teeth grate at
	who he sees)
	LOGAN!!

INT. SUBWAY PLATFORM

Gabe hears his shout, recognizes the voice
immediately.

The two adversaries stare at each other for a moment,
exchange looks of hatred and revenge.

Gabe draws first, fires up at Rhoemer, he ducks. Some
of his men rush out. Gabe kills the windshield, a few
terrorists.

*clickclickclick* Out of ammo. Not good.

Rhoemer punches out the windshield, returns fire.

Gabe tosses the empty gun, takes cover behind a
subway podium. He whips out the 9mm while Rhoemer's
men fire at him.

			RHOEMER
		(shouting, to Logan)
Logan, why do you continue to plague
	my existence?

Gabe shouts back.

			LOGAN
Three reasons. One, I don't like
	you!

He turns, caps one terrorist.

			LOGAN
	Two, you killed Ellis!

Two more.

			LOGAN
Three, I have a mint glove and you
need a punch in the mouth!

Three run at him, eager for death. Gabe grants their
wish.

			RHOEMER
	How amusing.

Three CBDC agents enter the battle from the service
tunnel.

Rhoemer smiles, starts the subway car. Gabe sees the
future.

			LOGAN
		(shouts)
	No! Stay back!

It's all in vain.

INT. SUBWAY CAR

The three agents jump right in front of the subway
car.

			RHOEMER
		(adjusting controls)
One more thing, Logan. Ellis died
screaming like a stuck pig! Something
	like...

Rhoemer hits the ignition switch.

INT. SUBWAY PLATFORM

Gabe watches as Rhoemer mows them down. The agents
scream as death takes them.

			RHOEMER
		(laughs)
	That!

Rhoemer stops the subway car, opens the door, fires
at Gabe.

			RHOEMER
	 (to his men)
	Come! Let us depart!

Gabe, heated, can't return fire.

			LOGAN
	Son of a bitch!

The remaining men board the subway car, while Logan
holds his position.

			RHOEMER
	Until next time...

The subway car pulls off, Rhoemer closes the door.

			LOGAN
		(firing)
	You never learn do you?

He fires until the car's out of sight. Lian calls
him.

			XING(VO)
Gabe! Get moving! There's a viral
	bomb in that area.

			LOGAN
	Damn! Tell Benton I've spotted
	Rhoemer. He's taking off, location
	unknown, in a subway car.

			XING
	I'll send the message. Out.

Gabe moves on to the end of platform. The viral bomb
waits, glows green.

He holsters his gun, runs over to the bomb, calls
Lian.

			LOGAN
Lian, I've found it. Call for
	disarming.

Gabe looks around at the wrecked subway.

			LOGAN
	Any sign of Rhoemer?

			XING
I've detected the subway car, but it
	hasn't stopped yet.

The bomb beeps, grabs Gabe's attention. It turns a
deep blue.

			LOGAN
	Oh shit.

He turns the bomb over, it turns red.

			LOGAN
This one's different from the others.

The last thing Gabe wants to see. A timer.

*BOOM*

EXT. HELICOPTER INTERIOR

Lian looks down at the impending explosion.

The blast causes destruction that would make Godzilla
proud. Shattered windows, fire, debris everywhere.

The helicopter struggles, the pilot maintains
control, rises above the flying debris.

When the smoke clears, a large portion of Georgia
Avenue is now rubble. Lian frantically calls
Benton.

			XING
Benton, We're going to need, Haz-Med
	crews and firefighters down here
	immediately!

			BENTON(VO)
	On the way!

Lian punches another key, calls Logan.

			XING
	Gabe?! Come in...Come in...

SUBWAY CHASE/JENSEN'S PERIL

INT. DESTROYED SUBWAY

The subway's a mess of flames, mangled pillars. Some
debris moves. A hand emerges from the rubble-Gabe. He
struggles to get up, comes to his senses.

Gabe looks like he lost a fight with a dirt mountain.
He touches his ears, a trickle of blood. He reaches
into his chest pocket, pulls out a spare earpiece.

			LOGAN
		(coughing)
	Lian? I'm here.

			XING(VO)
Thank God, Logan. I thought you had
	been killed!

			LOGAN
Not yet, someone must love me.

			XING
You're lucky to be alive. Ten blocks
of D.C. just went into the ground.
Rhoemer must've rigged the bomb to
explode for his escape plan. I have
	no idea how though.

Gabe checks around, finds his 9mm, inserts new clip.

			LOGAN
I guessed as much. Any word on the
	park operation?

Gabe avoids the flames, sees an area devoid of fire.
He spots a shotgun, picks it up.

			XING
Not yet. Jensen's team is moving in
	soon.

Gabe runs to the safe area.

			XING
Logan, listen to me. The subway car
has stopped at the end of a dual-
	track tunnel.

			LOGAN
	How do I get there?

			XING
There an entrance about fifty yards
	northwest. There's still a chance
	that you can catch Rhoemer!

Gabe follows her directions, finds the tunnel
entrance. It breaks off into a larger corridor.

			XING
The main tunnel runs for about twenty
miles and goes into the country side.
	Rhoemer's at the five-mile mark.

INT. HELICOPTER

Lian receives an update on her lap-top. She reads,
tells Gabe.

			XING
	Uhh..Gabe?

			LOGAN(VO)
I don't like that voice, Lian. What
	is it?

			XING
FEMA has begun its' operation and
they're using that tunnel to shuttle
	emergency personnel to the destroyed
	areas.

INT. TUNNEL CORRIDOR

Logan stops for a second.

			LOGAN
So you're asking me to run through a
tunnel with live trains on both
	sides!?

			XING(VO)
It's the only way to Rhoemer. Expect
	resistance, as well. Xing out.

			LOGAN
		(sighs)
	I need a raise.

He runs toward the main tunnel.

EXT. NIGHT, WASHINGTON PARK FOREGROUNDS

The park foregrounds. Beautiful marble encased trees,
one walkway, no cover.

Thirty-five heavily armed CBDC agents move through
the grass in teams of five. Ready for anything.

Except this: forty-five terrorists surround their
position.

			TEAM LEADER JENSEN
	Look alive, people...this is the
	perfect place for an-

Girdeaux and five men jump in front of Jensen's team.

			GIRDEAUX
		(shouts)
	NOW!!!!

All of the terrorists spring, unleashing a lethal
volley of bullets. Ten agents drop.

The agents return fire. Some terrorists fall as well,
but the agents catch most of the bullets.

			GIRDEAUX
Kill them all! Let no one live!

It's like shooting fish in a barrel. The strike force
dwindles, the terrorists win easily. Jensen shouts to
his remaining 6 men.

			TEAM LEADER JENSEN
Fall back, now...scatter and wait for
	back up-Ackk!

A bullet goes through his neck. The remaining agents
scatter in all directions, escaping Girdeaux's fire.

Girdeaux lifts his helmet, lights a cigarette. He
inhales, French-style, exhales.

			GIRDEAUX
	Better than sex.
		(turns to Marcos)
	Jorge, gather a team. I don't want a
	single agent left alive.

			MARCOS
I'm on it. That was simple.

Girdeaux hands Marcos the detonation activator.

			GIRDEAUX
Guard this with your life, my friend.
If I fall, you must act fast.

			MARCOS
Si, lo comprende. But what about
	Logan?

			GIRDEAUX
Leave him to me-if he's still alive!
		(laughs)

Marcos gathers some men, goes into the park.

Girdeaux gets on his com-link to Rhoemer.

INT. TUNNEL END

Rhoemer and Mara talk while his men prepare for
evacuation. They dress as CBDC officers.

An elevator waits for him. He's irate.

			RHOEMER
You are to stay and take care of
Logan, then join Girdeaux in the
	park.

			ARAMOV
	But-

			RHOEMER
The money is insignificant to me now-
I want that bomb detonated! See to
	it!

			ARAMOV
		(reluctantly)
	No money? But I thought...

Rhoemer gives her a look that would crush buildings.
She cowers, his link rings.

			RHOEMER
	Is it done?

			GIRDEAUX (VO)
Yes, Mon ami. It was like smothering
	a baby...delicious.

			MAIVIK
Commander, the data has been sent to
	headquarters!

			RHOEMER
	Good.
		(to Girdeaux)
Make sure that bomb is detonated!

			GIRDEAUX
You have my word, Girdeaux out.

*CLICK* Rhoemer looks at Mara again.

			RHOEMER
	Do not fail me.

He boards the elevator.

			ARAMOV
		(shaken, then confident)
	Understood.

Rhoemer puts on the hood, the elevator closes.

INT. TUNNEL ENTRANCE

The main tunnel's huge and cavernous. Two separate
rail lines, dividers, platforms every thirty yards.

Trains run on opposite sides every minute.

Gabe enters the tunnel. *SCREECH* He barely has
enough time to dodge a train. He leaps back into the
corridor, adrenaline flowing.

			LOGAN
	Shit, too close.

The train passes, he looks out, runs.

			LOGAN
Are you sure this is the only way to
	Rhoemer?

			XING(VO)
Yes. And hurry, there's less than an
hour left. We also have an update on
	the park situation--Jensen's team has
	encountered heavy resistance.

			LOGAN
		(suspicious)
Damn. This whole mission feels wrong.

			XING
	I know. Rhoemer's subway car's
stopped at the end of the tunnel.
	He's probably still there.

			LOGAN
He knows I'm coming, Lian. Anything
	else?

			XING
	Don't use any explosives--it'll cause
	a derailment.

			LOGAN
	Copy. I'm on the move.

INT. MAIN TUNNEL

Gabe gathers his nerves, runs into the MAIN TUNNEL.
He continues for a quarter-mile, when he senses
company waiting for him.

Three terrorists on a middle platform. They fire.

Gabe takes cover, but here comes the train!

He barely moves, takes aim with his shotgun. He dives
towards them, killing two. The train steams by.

The third runs to the edge, looks down, nothing. A
train approaches. He turns to a kick in the chest,
right into the path of the train. It doesn't slow
down.

			LOGAN
I hope that got him on track.

Gabe sees a red dot on his chest. He freezes, dives
to the left. The assassin fires, hits his arm.

			LOGAN
	Ahh..shit!

He takes cover, examines the wound. Not serious, just
pain.

He grimaces, peeks where the assassin fired. He sees
red hair jump down.

			LOGAN
I've spotted Mara Aramov in the
	tunnel, I'm going after her.

			XING(VO)
Roger. Logan, Benton says you can't
kill her. She may have vital
	information on Rhoemer's operation.

			LOGAN
I'll do my best, but no promises. Her
	ass is mine!

Gabe chases Mara, who shoots back. Gabe dodges,
returns fire. Mara crosses the tracks, runs by
another platform. Help arrives.

			ARAMOV
		(shouting)
	Don't let him through!

			TERRORIST #5
	Da!

Mara moves on, confident in her men. Gabe sees her
stop firing, raises his shotgun.

Another train. He ducks into a side crevice.

The train passes, he lets loose on all three
terrorists. He hops up on the platform, kneels, takes
out his 9mm.

			LOGAN
		(cooly)
	No more running.

Perfect shot to the calf. Mara yells, falls. Hard.

Gabe runs up to her, kicks away her weapon.

			LOGAN
		(questioning)
Hope you had a nice trip, Mara. Now
where's Rhoemer? Where are the other
	bombs?

			ARAMOV
		(groggy)
	He's gone...you're too late Logan...

			LOGAN
	We'll see.

She loses consciousness.

A train's coming. He moves her to a side crevice,
calls Lian.

			LOGAN
	I've got Mara, she's lost
	consciousness. She said Rhoemer's
	gone.

			XING(VO)
	Intelligence indicates there was an
	unauthorized helicopter lift-off. If
	he's gone, then that means--

Gabe runs further down the tunnel. He needs a way
out.

			LOGAN
The bomb is going to blow whether or
	not the government meets his
demands. Tell Benton that I'm going
	to see if--

Static...

Benton's voice.

			BENTON(VO)
Logan, I have a mission redirect. Get
out of the tunnel, there's a manhole
opening five yards from where you
	are.

Gabe sees the ladder, climbs.

			LOGAN
		(annoyed and curious)
	What's going on?

			BENTON
	CBDC's getting slaughtered. The Park
	operation has failed, Jensen's team
	has been nearly eliminated.

			LOGAN
		(shocked)
	What!? How!?

Gabe reaches the top, lifts the manhole cover. He's
at the WASHINGTON PARK MAIN WALL.

EXT. WASHINGTON PARK MAIN WALL

He runs to the side, climbs up. A drop hits his eye.
Rain.

			BENTON
It was Girdeaux. You're on assist
and trigger status. You must find the
two separate viral bombs hidden in
the park and call a CBDC agent to
	diffuse them.

			LOGAN
Can I use the viral locator?

			BENTON
Yes, but these bombs are more
complicated than the one in the bank.
You'll also have to locate the main
	communications array and shut it
	down.

			LOGAN
Damn, does anyone else work except
	me? Where's the main bomb?

It's pouring heavy now.

			BENTON
	Freedom Memorial.

			XING
	That's also where you'll find
	Girdeaux.

			LOGAN
Can't wait. Any more reports of
	Girdeaux's force in the park?

			BENTON
Yes, we believe they're down to 45,
maybe 50 men. You have to hurry
Logan, you're the last line of
	defense.

Gabe reaches the top.

WASHINGTON PARK

EXT. WASHINGTON PARK MAIN ENTRANCE

Satan's playground. Dead officers, trees on fire,
sounds of firefights.

It was a beautiful park, but now it's a war zone.

			LOGAN
	How long until detonation?

			XING(VO)
	Less than 20 minutes.

			LOGAN
One more thing. Have a team pick up
Mara, I left her unconscious in the
	tunnel, but chances are she's
	recovering.

			BENTON
Copy that. I'll send a team.

			LOGAN
		(prepared)
	Ok, let's do it.

Gabe jumps into the park. He crouch-walks, stops at a
small bush. He takes aim at one man walking towards
him. Another atop a pillar.

The pillar guard turns. Head shot for the first. Gabe
runs over, takes off the man's flak jacket, continues
the man's route.

He waves to the pillar guard. The man waves back.

			TERRORIST #6
	Park Entrance all clear.

EXT. WASHINGTON PARK WALKWAY

A square bush with one terrorist next to a bomb.

			TERRORIST #7
	Viral Bomb #1 secure.

EXT. WASHINGTON PARK WALKWAY #2

A large statue of a man on a horse. One terrorist
next to bomb, another patrolling.

			TERRORIST #8
	Viral Bomb #2 secure.

EXT. FREEDOM MEMORIAL

Girdeaux's next to a larger bomb, counting down.

			GIRDEAUX
Main bomb secure. Keep your eyes
open, Logan shall be here any moment.

EXT. WASHINGTON PARK MAIN ENTRANCE

As Girdeaux says this, Gabe gives the pillar guard a
double-tap. He falls to the ground.

Another terrorist hears the noise. When he comes
around the corner-

			LOGAN
	Wassup?

*BLAM* Gabe checks the terrorist for weapons, finds a
.45. He pulls out the viral locator, calls Lian.

			LOGAN
Lian, I'm ready to start the bomb
	search. Hook me in.

			XING
	Check. One second...

INT. HELICOPTER

Lian uses her computer interface, numbers Gabe gave
her earlier to pinpoint the viral bombs. She send
their location back to the locator.

			XING
Logan? All right, we're in. The
viral detector is low on power, so it
will only pick up the viral signal
when it's within ten feet. You
shouldn't run into any other problems
	other than that.

			LOGAN(VO)
Except for the 50 or so terrorists
trying to kill me. Where are the
	remaining CBDC agents?

			XING
Scattered in the park, on stand-by
for your signal. When you set a
beacon, the nearest agent will come
	to your location. Xing out.

			LOGAN
That's the first good news today.

EXT. WASHINGTON PARK WALKWAY

Gabe looks at the locator. Straight ahead to the
left. He moves slowly, sees a terrorist.

He rolls around the corner behind a bush.

The terrorist continues, stops across from Gabe.
Taser time.

A flash on the wall. The terrorist by the bomb hears
the noise. He turns, hears someone crying for help in
German.

He runs to get his comrade. Another flash on the
wall. Gabe runs to the first Viral Bomb. He kneels
by it, sets a beacon.

			LOGAN
This is Logan, I have a viral bomb
	ready for deactivation, any agents
	copy? Over?

A muffled voice.

			CBDC AGENT
	On the way!

Gabe waits then he sees a yellow uniform in the
distance, running fast. Three men chase him to the
first bomb.

			CBDC AGENT #1
	Cover me!

Gabe fires. Three shots, three bodies. Another
terrorist tackles Gabe. Advantage: Terrorist. Not for
long. Gabe twists the shotgun, shoots. The man
smashes against the wall.

Logan goes back to the agent. The bomb glows green
for a moment, fades. The agent sighs.

			CBDC AGENT #1
Bomb diffused. I'll stay here and
	watch the bomb.

			LOGAN
	Alright--how come they had your
	position so fast?

			CBDC AGENT #1
	Because they're monitoring the
channels, and I have no idea how they
	could've got equipment that advanced.

			LOGAN
What? Can they monitor the secure
	lines?

			CBDC AGENT #1
No, just the regular channels and
	radio surveillance.

			LOGAN
		(suspicious)
	Hmm...

Gabe's com link activates.

			BENTON
Get moving. There's only 13 minutes
	left until the main bomb's
	detonation.

			LOGAN
	Copy. Did you acquire Mara?

			BENTON
Negative, she eluded two of our
	agents.

			LOGAN
		(surprised)
	What?

			BENTON
Your priority is the mission, Logan.
	Benton out.

			LOGAN
		(grudgingly)
	Roger. Logan out.

EXT. WASHINGTON PARK WALKWAY #2

A statue. He looks at his locator, bomb number two is
near. Gabe creeps-expecting company. Two guards don't
disappoint.

He gets behind a tree, throws a grenade to their far
left. One hears the explosion.

			TERRORIST #8
	Stay here, I go check.

			TERRORIST #9
	Agreed.

He runs off, Gabe sneaks up to the terrorist,
punctures his lung. No air, he can't tell his comrade
a bullet's after him. Another beacon.

			LOGAN
	Second bomb found, Lian. Time?

			XING(V.O.)
Nine minutes. Here comes your agent.

The sight resembles five jackals chasing a gazelle.
He screams.

			CBDC AGENT #3
	Cover me!!

Gabe takes out the .45, lays the smack down.

Two others fire on him. He circles around, whistles.

			LOGAN
	Two for one special.

He serves two helpings of lead. The agent yells.

			CBDC AGENT
	Bomb diffused! You're clear
	Commander.

			LOGAN
	Great job.

Gabe kneels, reloads, calls Lian.

			LOGAN
Both bombs diffused, how do I get to
	Girdeaux?

			XING(V.O.)
First path to your left through the
tennis courts. More of Rhoemer's men,
	be careful.

			LOGAN
	Got it. Anything else?

			XING
	Yes, Their main communication array.
is somewhere in that area. When you
find it, give me an uplink so I can
	locate their trigger-man.

			LOGAN
You want breakfast too while I'm over
	there?

			XING
	Dinner.

Gabe shakes his head.

			LOGAN
	Women.

EXT. WASHINGTON PARK WALKWAY #3

Gabe takes Lian's route, encounters resistance, Some
stray CBDC agents provide cover for him. He runs past
the tennis courts.

EXT. JUNGLE GYM

Two large, grotesque Tetris blocks, kids actually
play on this. One man at the top, life-span one
second. *BLAM*

Gabe climbs to the top, puts his com link to the
array.

			LOGAN
	You in?

INT. HELICOPTER

Lian hacks in, sees a name. She snags it, a photo
pops up.

			XING
	Bingo. The trigger-man is Jorge
	Marcos...

			LOGAN(VO)
	The Colombian? Perfect. He shouldn't
	be too hard to find.

			XING
Careful, Logan. Since he has the
detonator, he'll be antsy and ready
	to shoot.

EXT. JUNGLE GYM

A terrorist tries to climb behind him, struggles.

			LOGAN
I've seen blind men that aim better.

Gabe calmly shoots when his head's in view, climbs
down.

			LOGAN
I'm entering the park maze now.

			XING(VO)
I'm jamming his com link now, but it
	won't last forever. Xing out.

Gabe runs into the park hedge maze.

EXT. PARK MAZE ENTRANCE

A terrorist walks out. Gabe introduces to him to his
shotgun. He runs around the walkway, spots...Jorge
Marcos lighting a cigarette.

			LOGAN
	Hola, asshole.

Jorge looks up, recognizes Gabe immediately. He fires
once, hits the lamppost beside Gabe. Not even close.

			LOGAN
		(smiles)
You get a five second head start.

Jorge's legs think for him.

			MARCOS
		(shouting frantically)
Girdeaux, can you hear me? Logan is
	here! Send back up now!

EXT. PARK MAZE

The maze is thick, dense, made of bush. Marcos, lost,
can only hear Gabe's voice.

			LOGAN
	Marcos, you should've stayed in
Colombia. I'm going to turn you into
	a human gordita.

			MARCOS
	Pincha tu madre, Logan!
		(shouts)
Girdeaux, blow the bomb! He's after
	me now!!

He backs up into another path.

			LOGAN
Save your breath for your prayers!

Gabe closes in on Marcos, who ducks into another
section. The agents runs by-or so he thinks.

Marcos walks out to check, realizes something is
wrong, turns around. Gabe shoots his hand, Marcos
drops his gun.

In this web, Gabe's a spider to Marcos' fly.

			MARCOS
		(fearful)
Logan, no! You need me, amigo. I can
	tell you things...

He points the gun at Marcos.

			LOGAN
Like what? How you killed my agents?
	I don't think so.

			MARCOS
	No!

It's all in vain. One shot.

			XING(VO)
Gabe? You've got 5 minutes before
D.C. becomes a hot zone. Freedom
Memorial is fifty yards in front of
	you! Go!

Gabe takes off towards the exit.

			LOGAN
Anything I need to know about
	Girdeaux?

			XING
Yes, Intelligence says he's in a high-
	impact Kevlar armor suit.

			LOGAN
The same one he wore in Europe two
	years ago?

			XING
The same. Even grenades won't pierce
it. Our tech guys are working on a
way through it, but you may have to
	improvise.

			LOGAN
		(sarcastic)
	I love this job.

Gabe runs on an elaborate walkway, surrounded by
trees. A clear path to his destination, no
terrorists.

He runs to FREEDOM MEMORIAL, busts open the doors
with his foot.

INT. FREEDOM MEMORIAL

It is a lovely crafted dome, complete with a mural of
the wars in America's history on the wall.

Girdeaux waits for him, weapons loaded. Gabe runs in.

The two men stare at each other. Game time.

Girdeaux fires his weapon, misses Gabe by inches. He
ducks behind a column, readies his shotgun.

			LOGAN
		(shouting, forceful)
	Anton Girdeaux! I hope Rhoemer's
paying you enough to die for him!

			GIRDEAUX
		(unsurprised)
Gabriel Logan, always the optimist. I
	missed you in London.

			LOGAN
Well now we can have our reunion!

			GIRDEAUX
A short one-did you take joy in
burying Ellis? I shall send you to
	meet him!

			LOGAN
I don't think so, Anton. It ends
	here!

Girdeaux motions to the mural on the wall. Gabe
evades his sight, gets in attack mode.

			GIRDEAUX
		(menacingly)
I think not! Look around you, Logan.
This mural depicts the entire history
	of your country's tyranny!
		(zealous)
It is time for a new day and we are
	the dawn!

Gabe rolls out behind Girdeaux-almost into a ball of
fire! It scorches the area around him, he takes cover
again.

Girdeaux jumps off the podium, lowers his helmet.

			GIRDEAUX
	Where are you, Logan?

Gabe takes aim, shoots at Girdeaux's helmet. Perfect
aim. *PING*, right off Girdeaux's helmet. He turns
around-launches his flames at Gabe.

Gabe barely takes cover again.

			LOGAN
	Talk about a hard head.

Girdeaux looks around the room, unable to find him.
Gabe slowly changes his position, until he's behind
him.

			GIRDEAUX
	 (menacing)
	You cannot hide forever!

Gabe looks at Girdeaux, takes aim at the fuel cord.

			LOGAN
	I don't plan to.

One shot.

			GIRDEAUX
		(surprised)
	Sacra Bleu!

A sudden outpour of fuel.

			GIRDEAUX
	No...this cannot be!

While Girdeaux tries to get control, Gabe rolls in
front of him. Girdeaux looks at him like a deer in
headlights.

He can't shoot either-he's in a pool of gas.

			LOGAN
I always did like French Toast.

*BANG* To say Girdeaux catches fire is wrong. More
like he becomes the world's first living torch-with a
career length of ten seconds.

Gabe runs over to the bomb. The timer has stopped at
thirty seconds. He breathes easy.

Suddenly, Girdeaux's com-link on the bomb activates.

			RHOEMER (VO)
	Girdeaux! Blow it now!

Gabe picks it up.

			LOGAN
	I'm sorry, Anton's a little hot under
the collar right now. Can I take a
	message?

Girdeaux's on his knees, screaming in agony.

			RHOEMER(VO)
	Logan!
		(laughs)
	You will not stop me!

			LOGAN
	Wrong again! Hear that?
(puts the link in the air)

EXT. FREEWAY ENTRANCE

A helicopter's in the background. His men are
shedding the disguises, getting in vans. Rhoemer's
disgusted at Girdeaux's screams.

			LOGAN(VO)
	You're next.
		(dial-tone)

Rhoemer puts it in his pocket, gets into a van.

			RHOEMER
	Very good. Now, we rest.

The vans drive off.

INT. FREEDOM MEMORIAL

Gabe calls Lian.

			LOGAN
Lian, what happened to the bomb?

			XING
Well, Girdeaux stopped it a couple of
	seconds before you two started
	fighting. Where is he now?

Gabe looks across the room, sees/hears Girdeaux still
screaming on the ground. Fire is hot.

			LOGAN
Burning his midnight oil. Get CBDC in
here and tell Benton I need an evac.

			XING
	Copy. Great job, Logan.

			LOGAN
You too. See you back at
	headquarters.

Gabe walks out of Freedom Memorial. CBDC agents run
in with extinguishers to put Girdeaux out of his
misery.

AGENCY HQ 2, WASHINGTON D.C.

INT. MARKINSON'S OFFICE, DAY

Markinson scolds Benton about his recent ineptness in
the D.C. operation. Gabe and Lian go over data at a
computer terminal. The computer announces the mission
statistics.

			COMPUTER
	Total cost of destruction, two
	hundred-fifty million. Total
	casualties, one hundred-five.

The mentioned areas pop up on-screen.

			COMPUTER
	Destroyed areas: Georgia Avenue,
	Washington Park, sections of D.C.
	subway system...

Enough is enough. Markinson's temper blows.

			MARKINSON
	Goddamn it, Benton!

			BENTON
Marcos, Girdeaux and Kravich are all
dead. Rhoemer and Mara both escaped-

			MARKINSON
I do not tolerate incompetence! I
could've spit on a bug to command
this mission better that you did!

			BENTON
	It wasn't completely my fa--

			MARKINSON
I don't want to hear any horseshit
excuses, if we didn't have Logan and
Lian, we'd be talking to each other
in plastic fucking suits right now!

His eyes go to the floor, Markinson notices this,
walks over.

			BENTON
		(solemn)
I owe all of you an apology. I should
	have commanded this mission better.

			MARKINSON
It's fine, Edward. You'll have some
time to think about it-I'm placing
	you on leave.

			BENTON
	Very well. How long?

			MARKINSON
Until you learn how to point without
your dick getting in the way!
	Dismissed!

Benton leaves, fuming. Markinson turns to Gabe and
Lian.

			MARKINSON
You two performed well, to say the
	least...we'll have some information
soon. Until then, get some rest--
	you'll need it.

			LOGAN
	A whole 2 days, I'm thrilled.

			MARKINSON
You should be, now get out of here
	before I change my mind.

They exit Markinson's office.

INT. AGENCY HEADQUARTERS HALLWAY

Gabe is silent, Lian looks at him--hoping he'll say
something. Nothing. She walks towards her office.

			XING
	Gabe, are you okay?

Gabe stares at the ground.

			LOGAN
We lost a lot of good men today.

She walks over, puts a hand on his shoulder.

			XING
	There's one I'm glad we didn't lose.

			LOGAN
	Thanks.

She walks back to her office, Logan calls out.

			LOGAN
Lian, wanna go get a drink sometime?

Lian thinks about it...

			XING
	One condition.

			LOGAN
	Yes?

			XING
	Take a shower, you stink.

Gabe smiles, she leaves. He walks to his office,
looks back, pumps his fist.

				FADE OUT

FADE IN

2 DAYS LATER...

EXT. WASHINGTON D.C. AFTERMATH

The aftermath of the D.C. attack is evident. A
noticeable portion of the city blackened, Georgia
Avenue looks like a train wreck. A damaged capital,
but one that still stands.

INT. USS HEADQUARTERS-DAYBREAK

Gabe, Lian and Markinson, in casual dress, all sit.
CBDC specialist DR. ZARRO explains the nature of the
virus.

			DR. ZARRO
We have finished our analysis of the
	deactivated bombs. Very little has
	come up, I'm afraid...

			LOGAN
	What's the problem? Weren't the
antigens left in the viral bomb still
	alive?

			DR. ZARRO
In a way. The virus appears to have a
fail-safe, a part of the virus that
	kills the rest.

			XING
Excuse me, Doctor, but isn't that
impossible? You can't tell a virus
	what to do.

			DR. ZARRO
	You misunderstand me, Ms.Xing. Look
	at this simulation.

The room darkens. The Doctor pulls out a laser
pointer. On-screen, a circle with antigens.

			DR. ZARRO
What you see here is the virus in its
	original form. Now, when you
deactivated the bomb, the virus did
	this--
		(to computer)
	Computer, please simulate virus
	deactivation.

On-screen, the virus attacks itself.

			DR. ZARRO
You see? The virus has received a
	command to "commit suicide".

			LOGAN
	No clues to trace.

			DR. ZARRO
	Or evidence to examine. The
	sophistication of this virus suggests
	years of work.

			XING
	How many?

			DR. ZARRO
	At least eight.

The trio looks at each other, this is a little bigger
than what they thought.

			DR. ZARRO
I believe the virus is composed of
	very small nano-machines; but the
	problem lies in its programming.

			LOGAN
Do you realize what you're saying? A
	programmable virus?

			DR. ZARRO
	It gets worse.

			MARKINSON
	More good news.

			DR. ZARRO
	Its capabilities are not just
	programmable for viral strains.
		(to computer)
Prepare test pool. 50 Irish males,
	35, recessive pancreatic cancer
	genes.

The computer displays the DNA strand, highlights the
cancer genes, next to the viral strain.

			DR. ZARRO
	Merge data.

The strands become one...

			XING
	Oh my god.

			MARKINSON
	Impressive weapon.

			DR. ZARRO
Yes. There is someone very smart, and
very devious who has created a virus
	that-

			LOGAN
Can target any race, any person,
anywhere and give them an accelerated
version of whatever virus they want.

			DR. ZARRO
Exactly. If you wanted to kill off
	one million gray-haired Abouriginies
with the Hanta virus in a day-you
	would use this.

Light dawns around the room. This is no joke.

			DR. ZARRO
	Syphon Filter is the ultimate
	assassin-silent, deadly, and best of
	all,

			MARKINSON
	Controllable.

The room is quiet.

			LOGAN
What happens after the target is
	dead?

			DR. ZARRO
	The virus self-destructs.

			XING
I understand that, but how does that
explain the viral bomb turning into
	an explosive one?

			DR. ZARRO
	Simple. Rhoemer merely added a
potent explosive to another area of
the bomb. He deactivated the viral
part added a timer. Voila! Instant
	explosion.

			XING
I see. Damn...and this is in the
	hands of Rhoemer...looks like we'll
be busy for next few days.

			DR. ZARRO
All of this is hypothetical, but I
believe I am correct in my thesis.

			MARKINSON
Thank you Doctor, that will be all.

			DR. ZARRO
	My pleasure.

The Doctor leaves, Gabe stands.

			LOGAN
	That's all the information you've
	got?

			MARKINSON
	Pretty much.

			LOGAN
	Thin as a model's lunch.

Lian tries not to laugh.

			MARKINSON
	There's some technical stuff that
we're still trying to figure out, but
this is the jest of it.

			LOGAN
	Eight years...that's even longer than
	he's been rogue.

			XING
What was his last case? Wasn't it
	surveillance?

			MARKINSON
Yes. Two people. One's comatose, and
	the other is this man.
(punches a key on his desk)

On-screen, an older man, balding, looks intelligent.
The picture freezes.

			MARKINSON
	Jonathan Phagan. Founder of Pharcom,
Inc. Fifty-five, net worth of about
20 billion. He also employs a couple
	of brilliant scientists,
	including....

Another photo comes up-Dr. Yohannes.

			MARKINSON
	Dr. Yohannes, the premier authority
on pathogens and genetic coding in
the world. He was unable to attain
	funding for some of his
	more...delicate experiments, so he
	resigned from Stanford to pursue
	alternative methods.

			XING
Well, this kind of sophistication is
	beyond Rhoemer. What does Pharcom
	make?

On-screen shows Phagan walking around his facilities.

			MARKINSON
About half of the world's drugs-legal
	and illegal. Headquartered here in
	Washington-

Gabe remembers something.

			LOGAN
Lian, didn't you say something about
a corporate database that Kravich had
	access to?

			XING
Yes. The name I couldn't locate, but
	the central database was located
	here.

Markinson sees what Logan is getting at.

			MARKINSON
I get the feeling we've been
	suckered.

			LOGAN
		(angry)
This whole operation was just a
decoy. Rhoemer had to get the data
	that he couldn't receive overseas.

			XING
Possibly, but what could have been so
important that he would sacrifice his
	right hand man for it?

			LOGAN
I don't know, but I know who does...

			MARKINSON
	Exactly what I was thinking.

Lian continues to read Pharcom's information.

			XING
	Pharcom has a worldwide shipping
	system, labs on six different
	continents-

			LOGAN
	Including South America. Why haven't
	you been intelling this guy?

Stills of Phagan' house, personal holdings, security
force scroll on-screen.

			MARKINSON
	He's an extremely wealthy private
citizen, paranoid. Hard to track. A
year ago, Benton to took over the
	intelligence from the FBI. His
	reports were mainly inconclusive.

			LOGAN
		(questioning tone)
Benton? The same man who let Mara
escape, the same man who got Jensen's
entire team taken out? Where is he
	now...?

			MARKINSON
	On leave.

			LOGAN
	Where?

			MARKINSON
Not sure. He didn't report in, but
	he's gone.

			XING
	A mole?

Markinson thinks for a moment, answers.

			MARKINSON
	 (to Logan)
You're going to New York. Phagan is
opening a new art exposition, even
	though there isn't anything special
about it. This might be a cover for a
	meeting between Phagan and Rhoemer.

			LOGAN
	And if he's not there?

			MARKINSON
See what you can dig up, we'll find
	out something here. Xing will
accompany you there as back up. You
	two leave immediately.

They walk towards the door.

			LOGAN
	Understood. Is this a covert
	operation?

He smiles.

			MARKINSON
	Officially, the agency knows nothing
	about this.

			LOGAN
	Procedure?

			MARKINSON
	Complete stealth, follow him closely.
Obviously, you can't be seen or
	captured. Eliminate any of Phagan's
	security. Once you've observed the
	meeting, use whatever means necessary
	to capture Phagan alive.

			LOGAN
	What about Rhoemer's subordinates?

			MARKINSON
		(immediately)
Aside from Mara, we only need Phagan.

			LOGAN
One more thing, how am I supposed to
	get into this trendy place?

Markinson smirks, opens his desk drawer.

			MARKINSON
	Catch.

Markinson throws a bag of some sort. Gabe catches
it, looks. Gold cufflinks.

			MARKINSON
	Get a tux.

			LOGAN
	But-

			MARKINSON
	Dismissed.

Gabe grumbles, walks out. Lian follows, laughing.

				FADE OUT

FADE IN:

PHARCOM EXPOSITION CENTER, NEW YORK CITY

EXT. PHARCOM EXPOSITION CENTER, NIGHT

An upscale building in New York. Lots of people
outside the entrance, the smell of wealth.

INT. MAIN GALLERIA

Two glistening gold cuff-links. Gabe has on the black
tuxedo, obviously uncomfortable. He's completely
unaware of the painting behind him.

Until an ART SNOB walks up. The kind of guy who
enjoys the forest from a Lexus.

			ART SNOB
		(pompous)
This painting conveys the pain and
suffering of the human spirit. Every
time one views this piece, I am
	filled with exhilaration and a
	feeling of, satisfaction....

Gabe turns to the painting, a straight black line on
canvas.

Gabe looks at the man, puzzled. He has it.

			LOGAN
		(smiles)
	Been a while, huh?

Offended, the man gasps, walks away. Lian chuckles
over his earpiece.

			XING(VO)
You might need to work on your people
	skills.

			LOGAN
		(still looking)
Nah, he had the personality of a year-
	old fruitcake. Where's Phagan?

			XING
You should see him soon, he just went
	in.

			LOGAN
		(spots Phagan)
	I see him...

Across the room, Phagan is in a conversation about
art. A security guard walks up, whispers something in
his ear.

			LOGAN
	Looks like we got something...

Phagan excuses himself, moves out of the area.
Unbeknownst to him, he has a shadow.

			LOGAN
He's moving, Lian. I'm on him.

Gabe trails Phagan to an unpopulated area.

One of the cuff-links drops. Gabe quickly hides.
Phagan turns around, suspicious.

Gabe waits for a moment. Phagan sees nothing, keeps
walking.

Phagan reaches an unfinished exhibit hall. "Neo-Rome
Exhibit". Phagan walks to the entrance, where
security personnel await.

INT. NEO-ROME ENTRANCE

The room is beautifully decorated, combining elements
of of ancient Rome and the 21st century.

Gabe hides around the corner. Phagan takes a glance
behind him, talks to his security guards.

			PHAGAN
Be ready for anything. Where is he?

			SECURITY GUARD
	Waiting at the Egyptian exhibit,
	sir.

			PHAGAN
	Very well.

Gabe takes a quick look. Four huge guards with
machine guns.

			LOGAN
	Some heavy weaponry for toy-cops....

He ducks back.

			PHAGAN
Do not allow anyone to pass this
	area.

			SECURITY GUARD
	Understood.

Phagan walks up the ramp, feeling secure. He
disappears into the exhibit. Gabe calls Lian.

			LOGAN
Lian, you have the specs for this
	area?

			XING(VO)
	Of course.

EXT. ROOFTOP

Lian is on the roof with her laptop. She accesses the
building's schematics. Success.

			XING
Ok, the Egyptian exhibit is 250
meters away, but there's only one way
	through.

			LOGAN(VO)
	Shit.

			XING
	What?

INT. NEO-ROME ENTRANCE

Gabe looks again. The guards are close enough that if
one gets shot, the others will hear. Not to mention
the machine guns.

			LOGAN
These guys could be extras for
	Superman. Any ideas?

			XING(VO)
Maybe...try not to kill them until
	they say something.

			LOGAN
So I should let them call for help?

			XING
		(smirking)
	No...just trust me.

INT. NEO-ROME ENTRANCE HALLWAY

Gabe holds his position around the corner for a
moment, cocks his gun, and stands up.

			LOGAN
	Showtime.

He whispers around the corner.

			LOGAN
	Help...help...help...help....

The security guard by the corridor looks puzzled and
tells his associates

			SECURITY GUARD
Hans, I just heard something. I'm
	gonna go check it out.

			SECURITY GUARD HANS
	Go head.

The security guard walks to Gabe's location. He's
sitting down, clutching his knees, but one hand is in
his lap.

Gabe has his head down appears to be sniffling...

			SECURITY GUARD
What the fuck? Who the hell are you?

Gabe doesn't answer, just keeps...crying? The guard
walks over, wondering what this guy's problem is.
Probably a writer.

			SECURITY GUARD
		(meanly)
Did you hear me? Get up!!
		(grabs Logan by the shirt
	collar)
	What's wrong with you?

He lifts Gabe. His emotional crisis ends.

			LOGAN
	I didn't know you cared.

Gabe shoots him thrice. *THUD*

The other security guards hear it over their
earpieces. They become suspicious, begin to move.
Then, his voice.

			SECURITY GUARD (V.O.)
	All clear. Repeat, all clear.

			SECURITY GUARD HANS
	What happened? are you alright?

EXT. ROOFTOP

Lian holds down a key while she talks through her
headset.

			XING
		(speaking with dead Security
	Guard's voice)
Yes, I just found a drunk. False
alarm. Hans, come back and help me
carry him away. The rest of you
	return to your positions.

			SECURITY GUARD HANS(VO)
	I'm coming.

			XING
	Thanks.

Lian smiles, waits a moment. *THUD*

			XING
He's heavy. Pierre, Aston, more help,
	ya?

			SECURITY GUARD PIERRE(VO)
Alright, I'm coming back there now.

			SECURITY GUARD ASTON(VO)
	On my way.

Lian just waits for a moment. Two thuds later...

INT. HALLWAY

Gabe reloads his gun, four very dead security guards
behind him.

			LOGAN
	Thanks.

			XING(VO)
All you needed was a woman's touch.

He laughs a little.

			LOGAN
	Not bad. Moving now.

He moves up the walkway.

INT. STONEHENGE EXHIBIT ENTRANCE

Gabe reaches the top, almost gets spotted by an
advancing guard. He hides. The guard looks in Gabe's
direction, doesn't check. He turns around to walk
back.

Agent Logan looks-he's walking back. Head shot.
Taking the guard's weapon, he moves on to a wider
area.

INT. STONEHENGE EXHIBIT

An exact replica of the original Stonehenge in
England, with marble floor instead.

A single guard is by the exit, looking around. Gabe
holsters his weapon, ducks behind a stone. He takes
out his key-ring, throws it to the center of the
exhibit.

The guard suddenly hears a noise. He whips out his
gun, goes to the center. A key ring. A nice key
ring...

			GUARD
	Don't mind if I do.

The key ring emits a barely audible song-"Silent
night, Holy night"...the guard smiles and picks up
the key-chain.

He looks, fascinated. The key-chain stops playing.

A small needle darts out, pierces the guard's hand.
He drops the key-chain.

			SECURITY GUARD #5
	Ah!
		(groggy)
	Shit....

He falls to the floor. The key-chain plays as it lays
by his head. Gabe sneaks into the next room.

INT. PHARAOH CHAMBERS

The room is a cavern of gold, with four giant statues
of the Egyptian kings.

Gabe spots the back of Phagan's head. He stops for a
moment, observing his work.

Three security guards are unseen.

Gabe's wary. For a paranoid private citizen, Phagan
is too calm.

He crouches out of sight, takes out a silver pen. He
clicks it. The pen slowly converts itself into a fly.
He calls Lian.

			LOGAN
Lian, get ready to receive, I'm
	sending out the transmitter.

EXT. ROOFTOP

Lian presses two buttons on the keyboard, a small
window opens on her screen. She hits enter.

			XING
	Roger that, I'm ready.

EXT. PHARAOH CHAMBERS

The fly changes color to black, takes off. Phagan on
the move again, it follows him.

Phagan goes into a room, "Egyptian Exhibit".

The fly lands on the wall, scans the room. It sees
three guards, all standing close to each other. Lian
receives the data.

			XING(V.O.)
Phagan just went into the room, and
I'm reading three guards standing in
	a T formation.

			LOGAN
	Alright. Prepare the decoy.

			XING
	You got it.

Gabe takes out his silenced 9mm.

INT. PHARAOH CHAMBERS WALL

The fly emits a whistle and flies down.

All three security guards look down. One bends over,
the other backs him up.

The fly blows out a thin green mist. The two guards
inhale it, start choking. Gabe rolls out behind them,
unloads his clip. The third takes cover behind one of
the statues.

			SECURITY GUARD #6
		(hurriedly)
We have a penetration, over!!! Send
	Back-up!

			LOGAN
	A little help please, Lian?

			XING (V.O.)
	No problem.

The bug turns red, flies to the security guard. It
lands on his shoulder.

			SECURITY GUARD #6
	Shoo fly!

He hurt its feelings. The fly explodes on him. Gabe
sees it.

			LOGAN
	Thanks.

Gabe runs down the hallway for the Egyptian exhibit,
when he hears voices. He sneaks up to the main room.

INT. EGYPTIAN EXHIBIT MAIN ROOM

A shabby room. Dozens of wooden crates hastily
unpacked, two tall, unfinished pillars connected to a
wall, dust everywhere.

Phagan's shocked at an unexpected visitor.

			PHAGAN
		(arguing)
What are you doing here? We were
never to meet in person! Get out now!

Gabe knows security's after him. He sneaks in further
to get a closer view and sees...

Edward Benton.

			BENTON
	Plans have changed, Jonathan. My
	position has almost certainly been
	compromised.

			PHAGAN
	So what?

Betrayal. Gabe's pissed, radios Lian

			LOGAN
I've found the mole, Lian. It's
	Benton.

			XING(VO)
	Son of a...

Gabe hears another voice. Female.

			ARAMOV
As of now, we no longer work for
	you.

She puts a gun to his head.

			ARAMOV
And we have been ordered to silence
	you.

Phagan just about pisses his pants.

Just as Gabe is about to act, a barrage of shots
barely miss him, He returns fire, ducks into the
room.

Mara sees who's responsible for her limp.

			ARAMOV
	LOGAN!!!

Mara fires at Gabe, who takes cover behind some
crates. He shoots around at her, she takes cover with
Phagan beside her.

Benton is a few feet away from them, ducking behind a
wall.

			BENTON
		(to Mara)
Get him out of here! I'll cover you!

Benton pulls out a small gun, it looks like a pea-
shooter.

			BENTON
Let's see some of your training,
	Commander!

			LOGAN
	My pleasure!

Mara roughly picks Phagan up, puts her gun to his
neck.

			ARAMOV
	Come on, move!

They move out of the door behind them.

Gabe stands up firing at them. Then sees Benton
stand. More importantly, he notices the gun is his
hand.

			BENTON
	Speed drill!

Benton pulls the trigger.

The bullets come like a Michael Johnson sprint. Gabe
barely out-runs them, The shots chase him to a
statue, decide to hit it instead. He catches his
breath.

That sucked, but he can't let Benton know that.

			LOGAN
		(shouting)
Faster than speeding bullets. Is that
	all you got?

Benton calmly reloads, presses a switch on the gun.
The barrel splits in two.

			BENTON
Absolutely not! Let's see if you can
	do double-time!

Gabe calculates his route and takes off. He's ducking
and dodging, making his way towards the traitorous
agent.

The bullet seem to get angry because they can't hit
the target. Benton fires all over the place, but Gabe
is too good.

			BENTON
	Goddamn you, Logan!!

Benton runs, firing wildly and missing everything. He
closes in on the last spot where Gabe took cover-an
area surrounded by large boxes.

He reloads his gun, a cocky smile replaces his
frustration.

He jumps in front of the box, opens fire.

			BENTON
	Die!!!

*CLICKCLICK* Benton's been firing at air. Some dust
hits him from above. He looks up.

			LOGAN
	My forte was always marksmanship.

Two shots to the chest. He jumps down by Benton's
dead body, rings Lian.

			LOGAN
I've eliminated the mole, but I have
no idea where Mara is. Can you find
	her?

			XING
	Possibly. Put your com-link to
Benton's and pray. I'll see if I can
	read where her link is.

Gabe does as she says. When he puts his next to
Benton's, they beep.

EXT. ROOFTOP

Lian scans, calibrates the sensors. Her lap-top shows
a dot moving towards a hallway.

			XING
Got her! She's headed towards the--

			SECURITY GUARD
	Don't move!

Lian slowly gets up from her lap-top.

			XING
		(to Logan, barely audible)
	Give me a second...

			SECURITY GUARD
		(to com-link)
I've found an intruder. Send back-up,
we may have a massive penetration.
		(to Lian)
Keep your hands where I can see them,
	honey.

Lian cocks an eyebrow, raises her hands. Not exactly
where the guard expected. She's sexy.

			XING
		(sultry)
	How's this?

She continues, begins to move the zipper downwards.
The guard can't believe his luck.

			SECURITY GUARD
		(mesmerized, stammering)
	That's...that's good....

			XING
	It gets better...

Lian pulls the zipper down all the way. She suddenly
reaches inside, grabs her gun, shoots her would-be
captor in one smooth motion.

			XING
	But not for you!

She gets back to the lap-top.

			XING
	I'm back.

			LOGAN(VO)
	What was that all about?

Lian zips up her vest, Gabe hears it.

			XING
	Nothing I couldn't handle.

INT. EGYPTIAN EXHIBIT MAIN ROOM

Gabe looks into his com-link, puzzled.

EXT. ROOFTOP

Lian sees Mara moving fast and a host of guards
moving faster.

			XING
Mara is straight ahead and to your
left. It's a Mars exhibit. Gabe, the
	exhibition is shutting down, and
they're sending guards to you. Hope
	you got fresh clips.

			LOGAN(VO)
Got it. I'm moving, call for evac and
	get ready to move out.

INT. EGYPTIAN EXHIBIT MAIN ROOM

Gabe sees Benton's G-18. He looks at the gun for a
moment.

			LOGAN
	Why not?

Gabe takes it, runs up the corridor.

INT. OUTER SPACE ROOM

An outer space theme dominates the room. Stars and
enormous planet replicas hang from the ceiling.

Four guards wait to greet the agent. He runs in,
fearless.

			LOGAN
	Waiting for me?

The guards open fire on sight. Gabe dodges, opens
fire with the G-18. The results are both fast and
lethal.

Three of the guards drop instantly, the fourth takes
cover behind a star.

			SECURITY GUARD
		(to com-link)
	He's here, send back-up!!!

Gabe notices something above the guards position-a
moon replica. He shoots the cable holding it.

The moon falls on the guard.

			SECURITY GUARD
	Can you hear--Ahh!

Ouch. Pancakes, anyone? Gabe runs past.

			LOGAN
Well, look at that--a man on the
	moon.

Gabe gets a call from Lian

			XING(VO)
There's a small army headed your way,
Gabe! Go into the next room and it's
a straight sprint to Mara and
	Phagan.

			LOGAN
	No prob.

Gabe kicks the moon replica towards the door,
blocking it. He exits the room.

			LOGAN
	Anything else?

			XING
	Mara keeps mentioning Syphon Filter.
You'd better see if you can take her
	alive too.

			LOGAN
	Again. No problem...

Gabe runs around the corner and into a separate
corridor, hearing voices as he approaches.

INT. HALLWAY

The hallway overlooks the Mars exhibit through a wall
of mirrors.

Gabe sees Mara holding a gun to Phagan' head.

			ARAMOV
You pitiful fool. You never realized
what you got yourself into did you?

			PHAGAN
	Please, let me explain!

			ARAMOV
The time for words has ended!
		(cocks gun)
	Dosvendanya, Phagan!

Gabe acts fast. He rolls around the corner, shoots
Mara's other calf. She is in shock for a moment,
grabs her leg and falls.

Phagan, seeing an opportunity, goes for her weapon,
seizes it.

The demeanor of Phagan has radically changed.

			PHAGAN
	Cocky little bitch.
		(points the gun at Mara)
Poor, poor Mara. Did we lose
	something?

Gabe's gun is on both of them. Mara curses in
Russian, barely holding back her rage.

			LOGAN
Back off, Phagan. You're coming with
	me.

			PHAGAN
	I beg to differ..Agent Logan.

			LOGAN
		(suspicious)
How do you know my name?

Phagan is still holding the gun to Mara.

			PHAGAN
I hate surprises. Your Agency and
their methods are nothing new to me.
However, you are powerless to stop
the future. A future that will
	undoubtedly belong to me.

Phagan moves towards the wall, never taking the gun
off Mara. Gabe's aim alternates from Phagan to Mara.

			PHAGAN
Suppose I make you an offer. Let me
escape, and I will help you instead.

He aims at her head.

			PHAGAN
And let me kill this specter of a
	human being.

			LOGAN
First of all, I don't negotiate.
Second, how are you going to shoot
her if your hand is bleeding?

			PHAGAN
		(looking at his hand)
	What are you--

Gabe takes advantage, shoots Phagan's hand. He drops
the gun, leans up against a wall for support. Gabe
points the gun at Mara.

			LOGAN
	Don't even think about it.

			PHAGAN
		(screaming in pain)
	Unngh!

Mara slowly reaches into her hair, pulls out a bobby
pin.

			LOGAN
	Hold it.

			ARAMOV
A woman cannot do her hair?

			LOGAN
	You don't qualify.

Gabe is unaware of Phagan searching along the wall.

			PHAGAN
		(recovering)
	Stupid, stupid...you pathetic lackey.
Do you have any idea of what you're
	into?

Mara acts like she's doing her hair, flicks her wrist
to reveal a needle from the bobby pin. Quick as a
cat, she launches it at Gabe. It catches him in the
arm, he winces in pain.

Phagan takes the opportunity, presses a button. A
panel opens behind him, he's outta there.

Mara makes it to her feet to follow. Gabe's wounded,
but Mara can't run. She falls and the door closes,
Phagan's gone.

Enraged, Gabe turns his wrath towards Mara, still on
the floor.

			ARAMOV
You are weak, Logan. You let that
	fool escape!

Gabe points the gun at her.

			LOGAN
Respect my gun or accept your demise.

He hears the guards' shouts in the hallway. He
roughly picks Mara up, and they make their way to the
stairwell, going to the roof. Before going upstairs,
he tosses a smoke grenade in the hall.

Mara is ahead of him. Gabe returns fire at the
pursuing guards. They make it to the roof, where the
evacuation chopper awaits.

EXT. ROOFTOP

They make it inside. The roof door opens, numerous
guards fire on the chopper. Lian returns fire.

			XING
Do we need anything else from here?

			LOGAN
	No.

			PILOT
	Good.
		(flicking a switch on the
	control panel)
	Adios!
		(presses a button)

The helicopter opens a compartment, drops down a
solid black ball. The ball slowly drops to the
rooftop, lands softly.

INT. HELICOPTER

The Pilot presses another switch.

			PILOT
	Hang on, people!

The helicopter takes off.

EXT. ROOFTOP

A guard examines the ball. It's heavy, appears to
have a face.

One eye opens, another. A smile.

			BALL
		(AOL voice)
	Goodbye!

The ball detonates. The explosion takes out the
entire roof, lights up the night sky.

				FADE OUT.

U.S.S. HQ 3, WASHINGTON D.C.

FADE IN

INT. MARKINSON'S OFFICE-NIGHT

CNN reporter Ronnie Dixon give details on the strange
explosion at the Pharcom Exposition Center.

			DIXON
Ladies and gentlemen, this is a
bizarre case, as their were no
	explosives on the roof. The
	whereabouts of Jonathan Phagan are
	also in question.

*click*. Markinson is in his chair, hand on his lip,
rolling his fingers.

In front of him are Gabe and Lian.

Someone's in trouble...

			MARKINSON
		(unpleased)
Well. Do you two know anything about
	this?

Both are silent. Markinson stands up, walks in
front.

			MARKINSON
	I find your silence interesting.
What's more interesting is how a
stealth mission turns up as a special
	report on CNN!!

			LOGAN
The exposure is my fault, sir.

			MARKINSON
	Yes, and it's also yours.
		(pointing to Lian)
	Dammit!

			LOGAN
I did find where the leak was coming
from. All the way at the top, it
	was...

Markinson sighs, motions for Gabe to stop.

			MARKINSON
	Benton.

Gabe's puzzled for a moment.

			MARKINSON
I've known for some time he was
playing both sides. But I needed to
see who he was giving his information
	to.

			LOGAN
		(angry)
How many missions did you send us on
	knowing we could get killed?

			MARKINSON
You are valuable to me, Logan--but
your knowledge of our operations is
limited to what I tell you. We do
	whatever it takes. But...

Gabe is still visibly angry, as is Lian. Markinson
continues.

			MARKINSON
Would any of you care to enlighten me
on how I can see this mission as
	anything but a complete disaster?

			XING
Yes sir. We did capture Mara and
	eliminate the mole.

			MARKINSON
And let Phagan disappear. There's no
point in going on about this...

He walks around his desk, pushes a button on the
phone. The two agents see this and sit.

			MARKINSON
	Is she ready to talk?

			SOLDIER(VO)
	Somewhat, she needs more persuasion.

			MARKINSON
	I see...send her--
		(notices his agents sitting
	down)
	Excuse me.

Markinson gives them a "get up" look. They comply.

			MARKINSON
	Send her in.

			SOLDIER VOICE
	On the way, sir.

They wait a moment while Mara is being escorted to
the office.

			LOGAN
	What's our next move?

			MARKINSON
Depends on how much Mara is going to
give up. But I have an idea of what
	she's going to say.

			LOGAN
	Any plans of telling me?

			MARKINSON
	No.

The voice comes on.

			VOICE
	Security escort requesting access.

			MARKINSON
	Granted.

The door opens, Mara limps in, thrown into a chair by
her escort. He leaves the room.

To say Mara is full of rage would be an
understatement-her lip is also bleeding. She looks at
Markinson.

			ARAMOV
	I will tell you nothing.

			MARKINSON
	Your resistance is amusing.

He goes over to Mara, leans in front of her.

			MARKINSON
Do you realize how extensive this
	agency's resources are? We officially
don't exist. Our cleaning bill is
	bigger than most Fortune 500
	companies.

			ARAMOV
You think this scares me? You are
	sadly mistaken.

He rises, walks over to the computer.

			MARKINSON
I thought you might feel that way. So
	we checked up on you.

The computer screen lowers, shows a five-year old
playing in the garden.

			MARKINSON
He's cute isn't he. This is an
	orphanage outside Moscow. Sound
	familiar?

Mara is visibly shaken at this, refuses to budge.

			ARAMOV
	I know nothing.

			MARKINSON
	Tell you what I know-how strong a
mother's love is for her son. Shall
	we test my theory?

A rifle's sight goes on, targeting the boy's head.

			VOICE
	Target locked. Proceed?

			MARKINSON
Imagine this child, so full of life
	and hope...cut down before he
	experiences the first grade, all
because of his mother's allegiance to
	a terrorist.

Mara is breathing hard, obviously breaking down.
Markinson flashes a smug look.

			MARKINSON
Follow my commands. Target the dirt
	six inches from the boy.

The scope follows instructions.

			MARKINSON
		(to Mara)
Now you're going to tell us
	everything. Every time I don't like a
response from you, I order a shot.

			ARAMOV
Bastard. You and Rhoemer are the
	same.

			MARKINSON
Wrong. I know my enemy, you do not.
Start talking. Why did Rhoemer attack
	Washington?

Mara stares at her son for a moment, it's not a
choice.

			ARAMOV
Erich needed the final sequence of
	genetic codes from Pharcom. More
	specifically, Phagan would not give
them to him, so he took them--under
	the cover of Girdeaux's sacrifice.

			MARKINSON
He launched an entire operation to
	get some data?

			ARAMOV
This should not surprise you, he
wanted to cause some destruction to
	this hypocritical city as well.

Gabe is disgusted.

			LOGAN
	Two birds with one stone.

			ARAMOV
	Exactly.

Lian is repulsed, but still curious.

			XING
Why didn't Phagan give him the
codes? Actually, why did he give him
	funding to begin with?

Mara smirks for a moment.

			ARAMOV
He wanted to be revered. If Syphon
Filter strikes, and only one company
	has a vaccine...

			LOGAN
He'd be worth billions. For the love
	of money.

			ARAMOV
You are in no position to criticize.
When Phagan realized the true scope
of Rhoemer's plan, he tried to pull
out. He had to be eliminated.

Gabe and Markinson are both amazed at Phagan's
stupidity.

			MARKINSON
For a rich guy, he wasn't too smart.
Well, he's gone now. How big is
	Rhoemer's operation?

			ARAMOV
Rhoemer's base is in Kazhakstan. It's
an old Soviet base, with several
	sections added.

			XING
Including a lab where he can
	construct the virus, right?

			ARAMOV
Yes. The guards there were all
	personally trained by Girdeaux and
	Rhoemer.

			LOGAN
	What about the weaponry?

			ARAMOV
It's a former Soviet military base.
Figure it out. But there's a
	helicopter there.

			MARKINSON
	What kind?

			ARAMOV
	A Hind-D.

The Agency computer reacts to the words "Hind-D". It
pulls up a diagnostic of the lethal attack chopper.

It floats on-screen while footage of the chopper in
battle shows. Complete and total destruction.

			XING
	The devil's chariot...

			ARAMOV
A gift from the base commander. It's
been outfitted with a laser cannon,
	soldier lifts.

			LOGAN
Remind me to put him on my Christmas
	list.

			ARAMOV
		(ignores comment)
The final sequencing of the virus
also occurs there. However, that is
	not the biggest problem.

			XING
	More good news?

			ARAMOV
There is a missile silo beneath
	Warehouse 23.

Perfect. Mara just smirks.

			LOGAN
(wipes his face with his hand)
This just gets better and better.

			MARKINSON
	Is it a nuclear missile?

			ARAMOV
	No, the nuclear components were
removed. That silo is also where Dr.
	Yohannes is.

			LOGAN
You said the final sequencing for the
	virus occurs there. Where exactly?

			ARAMOV
Nowhere evident, I assume that the
genetic codes are in the same place
as the missile control room. He likes
	convienance.

			MARKINSON
	I'll bet.
		(mocking)
"Get me some coffee while I launch
	this missile."

Gabe takes in this information, while Lian thinks.

			XING
	Any other long-range missiles there?

			ARAMOV
No. Just that one. But he was
restructuring the missile to carry a
	master version of Syphon Filter.

			LOGAN
		(to Markinson)
Well, that explains why he needed the
	genetic codes. He's going for
	genocide.

			ARAMOV
		(smiles)
	Oh yes.

Thomas is in deep thought, wondering how he can
resolve a possible holocaust.

			MARKINSON
Hmm...alright. We can knock this out
with one large strike force, but they
can't move in with the Hind there.

			LOGAN
I'll take care of those. Drop me in
before and I'll disable it. I'll get
	the detonation codes off the
	missile's data port.

			MARKINSON
I won't authorize that. You be alone
and facing an army of Rhoemer's
	hardest soldiers, armed--

			LOGAN
		(cuts him off)
Nothing will stop me. I'm doing it.

			XING
Well, if you're going, I'm backing
	you up.

Mara, relieved, exhales. Markinson sees this, then
has an idea.

			MARKINSON
I agree, but there's someone else
	who's going with us.

			XING
	You can't be serious.

			LOGAN
	If she goes, I stay.

			MARKINSON
Wrong again. She will accompany me in
the back-up chopper. We'll be there
	waiting in case something goes
	wrong.

			LOGAN
	Fine.

			MARKINSON
We leave immediately. Go suit up.

Lian and Gabe leave.

Mara then stands, walking fine. She walks over to
Markinson, slaps his glasses off.

			ARAMOV
		(pointing to screen)
What was the meaning of that?

Markinson chuckles, then tells the computer

			MARKINSON
	End simulation.

The image of the targeted boy disappears.

			MARKINSON
Had to make it convincing. So, now
the true phase begins. We just have
to accompany them to make sure
	everything goes as planned.

He picks up his shades.

			MARKINSON
Too bad Phagan escaped, you should've
	killed him sooner.

Markinson' phone rings. He picks it up, short
conversation. He hangs up.

			MARKINSON
	He wants to see you.

			ARAMOV
	Good.

The panel on the wall lifts, an elevator appears.
Mara steps inside. Going up. Markinson hits a key on
the phone.

			MARKINSON
Ready the strike force, and alert our
friend that we'll be operating on his
	turf.

INT. TRANSPORT ROOM/TUNNEL

30 Black helicopters, all equipped with soldier-
lifts. Agency personnel are all over the place,
preparing for the operation.

The two agents are by a helicopter waiting for their
pilot. Both in Arctic camouflage gear, ready to take
out Rhoemer once and for all.

			LOGAN
	What's taking him so long?

			XING
Not sure, but he needs to hurry up.

Dr. Zarro wanders around with a very large case, and
spots Gabe. He motions for him to come over.

			DR. ZARRO
Come here. I got something for you.

Gabe is puzzled. He looks at Lian who is showing the
same expression. He cautiously walks over to the
Doctor.

			LOGAN
	What is it?

The Doc pulls out a very large, futuristic-looking
gun. Gabe looks at him like he's crazy.

			LOGAN
Do I look like Wile E. Coyote?
There's no way I'm going to haul that
	around!

Zarro gives him a look.

			DR. ZARRO
Please. There's no way any of your
weapons will put a dent in a Hind-D
if you wind up fighting one. The
biggest machine gun in the world
	might make it sneeze.

			LOGAN
Ok. But what is this thing? A fax
	machine?

			DR. ZARRO
New weapon, untested. We call it a
	Wave-Rail gun.

			LOGAN
	A railroad gun?

			DR. ZARRO
Very funny. See if you can handle it.

Gabe takes it from Dr. Zarro. His arms feel the
weight, a little heavy, but not unmanageable.

			DR. ZARRO
About half the power of a rail gun,
not to mention size. You can only
fire three times in succession before
	it has to recharge.

			LOGAN
		(sarcastic)
A real technological wonder. How long
before I have to fire again?

			DR. ZARRO
	Roughly twenty seconds.

He points to a light just above the handle.

			DR. ZARRO
When it needs to charge, this light
	will turn red.

He presses a button, the light goes red, then turns
green.

			DR. ZARRO
When it turns green again, feel free
	to fire.

			LOGAN
	I got it, no bullets?

			DR. ZARRO
Nope, it draws energy from the core
	and focuses it into one-to-three
	concentrated shots. It should take
around seven to nine bursts to bring
	that chopper down.

			LOGAN
	Anything else?

			DR. ZARRO
	Yeah, point straight.

Gabe smiles. He slings the gun over his shoulder,
walks back to the chopper. Gabe and Lian are at the
chopper, ready to move out, when Mara walks up to the
Chopper.

			LOGAN
	You're flying us in?

			ARAMOV
Yes. And that is all, I have no wish
	to die there.

Markinson walks in, ready to go. He's dressed in a
trenchcoat.

			MARKINSON
Okay. Logan, Lian, everything is set.
Mara going to sneak you in, and
you'll have to disable the outer
	perimeter defenses. Then the strike
	force will launch.

			LOGAN
	What about the Russians?

			MARKINSON
They won't know something's going on
until the shooting starts. We have to
	be in and out.

They both nod.

			LOGAN
	Understood, Let's go.

Markinson steps back, closes the chopper door. The
chopper rises off the ground.

INT. COCKPIT

Mara pilots. Gabe and Lian are all strapped in.

			ARAMOV
	Get ready for the whiplash!

She presses a button on the control panel. The
chopper's engines shift around, becoming more like a
plane.

INT. TRANSPORT ROOM

The helicopter turns towards the exit tunnel, blasts
off with incredible force.

Markinson hops into his chopper along with two
guards.

			MARKINSON
	 (to Squadron)
Let's go! This operation began two
	minutes ago!

The choppers take off.

RHOEMER COMPOUND

EXT. SNOWY ROAD, NIGHT

The colder side of Russia. Snow, birch trees.

A barely paved road leads to the base.

Mara leads Gabe and Lian to the base entrance. She
carries a white bag with their weapons.

			ARAMOV
Remember, after I get you three in
the base, my obligation is over.

			XING
	So where are you going?

			ARAMOV
I have my own agenda to conduct.

			LOGAN
No problem, but if it conflicts with
ours, then I'll set an appointment
for your head with my gun.

Mara chuckles slightly. She is calm, and really
doesn't need to reply.

			ARAMOV
You truly have no idea of what you
have stepped into. But time shall
reveal all. Now silence, we're here.

EXT. RHOEMER COMPOUND MAIN ENTRANCE

The base is a throwback to the days of Communist
Russia, unforgiving design, built for efficiency.

If the stone walls warn you not to approach, the
mounted missile launchers make it clear.

Mara and her party approach the entrance on foot. The
guard recognizes her immediately, opens the gate.

EXT. JEEP

She waves, walks over to one of transport jeeps.

The guard notices her prisoners, goes to question
her.

			GUARD
	Colonel Aramov! Who are they?

			ARAMOV
Fools who dared defy me. I am taking
	them to the holding area.

			GUARD
Very well. I will escort you.

Mara suddenly punches him in the family jewels. The
soldiers grimaces in pain. The two agents look a
little shocked.

			ARAMOV
		(forceful)
	I need no help!

			GUARD
		(in pain)
	Y-yes, mistress.

The guard limps off. Gabe looks at her.

			LOGAN
	Mara.

			ARAMOV
		(sultry)
	Yes?

			LOGAN
You're as gentle as an earthquake.

Mara believes this a compliment. She smiles.

			ARAMOV
	Thank you.

Mara loads them in the back of the jeep. She' s in
the driver seat. She drives through the base, points
out the important parts.

			ARAMOV
I'm driving you to the missile
control site. You will need to
disable the long range missiles and
	outer defenses.

Gabe looks around at the base, notes the number of
troops, escape routes, a helipad.

An empty helipad.

			LOGAN
	Where's the Hind?

			ARAMOV
		(looking around)
Hmm. He has moved it again. I'm not
	sure.

			LOGAN
I feel better already. Where's the
	silo entrance?

Mara points across to a warehouse that resembles an
upright whale, mouth closed.

			ARAMOV
Right there. You will need an access
card, even I do not have one.

			XING
	Is it computer-controlled?

			ARAMOV
	I believe so.

			XING
	Then there is no spoon.

Gabe looks at Lian with a smirk. Mara stops at the
Missile Control building. She frees Gabe, gives him
the equipment.

			ARAMOV
Well, this is where I depart. I would
wish you luck, but I do not wish to
	see you succeed.

			LOGAN
No problem. Go break a leg.

Mara shoots Gabe a look of scorn. He returns it, hops
off.

EXT. MISSILE STORAGE AREA

A ramp leads down into a large building, complete
with satellite dish.

			LOGAN
		(to Lian)
I'm going in. You go and find a way
into the silo. I'll disable the
alarms and signal Markinson to move
	in.

Lian looks at Gabe.

			XING
You know that's not the plan.

			LOGAN
We're improvising. I'll see you back
	here in 10.

Lian's a little concerned but they go along with it.

			LOGAN
	Mara, drop her off.

			ARAMOV
	Very well.
		(to Lian)
There shouldn't be many in the silo
	anyway.

Gabe gives a last look to Lian.

			LOGAN
Maybe we'll get a drink after this.

			XING
		(smiles, but determined)
	You know it.

Mara drives off.

Gabe sneaks into the gate. Visibility is low, but he
notices two guards.

9mm time. He attaches a silencer, the gun says
nothing as two bullets exit.

He sneaks closer to the door, slowly opens it.

EXT. SILO ENTRANCE

Mara stops the jeep, Lian hops out. Mara looks to
her.

			ARAMOV
	Don't have too much fun...

			XING
	I won't-trust me.

She drives to the interior. Lian is right at the silo
access panel, She pulls out her laptop, starts
hacking.

Unfortunately, her timing is horrible.

INT. SILO

Rhoemer, Maivik, several of his men walk towards the
exit. THe madman's in a good mood.

			MAIVIK
I shall take the Hind and survey the
	area.

			RHOEMER
Good. I'm glad I entrusted the
construction to you, You have done
well. We will launch the missile
	immediately and complete our quest!
		(hears something)
	What is that?

EXT. SILO ENTRANCE

A second too late, Lian hears footsteps.

The door opens. Four stern-looking men aim with
cocked gun, itchy trigger fingers.

Coming to the front is the one person she did not
want to see.

			RHOEMER
	 (to Maivik)
	Improve the security system.

Maivik nods.

			RHOEMER
Lian Xing. To whom do I owe the
	pleasure?

He pulls her up roughly, smashes the lap-top with his
foot.

Rhoemer has one thing his adversary wants, his
expression says it all.

			RHOEMER
	So...where is Logan?

INT. MISSILE CONTROL BUILDING

Gabe's inside the base, a maze of colored walls and
armaments.

He's around the corner from a patrol guard, several
dead guards behind him. Gabe is about to scratch his
trigger-

The entire base goes on ALERT!

The red lights spin overhead, creating an atmosphere
of panic.

			LOGAN
		(whips out the HK-5)
	No point in stealth now!

He runs around the corner, lets the guard have it.
Gabe sees the Missile Control Room. He kicks open the
door.

INT. MISSILE CONTROL ROOM

Three terrorists man the controls. They freeze when
Gabe enters.

			LOGAN
	Don't move!

Gabe shoots them all. They fall, controls undamaged.

			LOGAN
	Thanks.

He runs over to the Missile Control panel to
operate.

The control screen comes up, Gabe hits a couple of
keys-"System Shutdown" menu. "Enter".

The base goes black for a moment. The defenses are
off-line.

EXT. 1/2 MILE FROM COMPOUND ENTRANCE

The 200-strong strike-force awaits word to move.
Markinson is in the back, an agent walks up.

			AGENT
Their defense grid just went off-
	line, sir!

			MARKINSON
	Good. Move in now!

The men obey, run towards the base. Markinson watches
them move out, gets back into his chopper. The pilot
is ready.

			MARKINSON
Let's go, we have an appointment to
	keep.

The chopper takes off to the west of the base.

INT. MISSILE STORAGE HALLWAY

Gabe is at the door, takes a quick look outside. No
one there. He steps out, sees one lone guard
smoking.

He smirks, easy pickings. Head shot.

The man crumples to the ground nosily. Another voice.

			TERRORIST
	Alexi!

Turns out he wasn't alone. Five of his comrades run
out, shocked at their friend's death.

They all look at his assailant. Gabe's head nods-
wassup. He fires a *CLICK*. No more ammo.

Should he panic now? Nah.

			LOGAN
		(holds his hands up)
	Alright. I can explain...

The terrorists fire at their target. He dives into
the control room, grabs the Wave-rail gun-charged and
ready.

As they rush the door, he waits for them. Surprise.

			LOGAN
	This will hurt.

He pulls the trigger. The gun vibrates, spews a
lethal shot of pure energy. It's so fast, three
terrorists can't even react.

The impact of the shot improves Gabe's words true.
The aura lingers, disappears.

Gabe looks down at the gun in awe.

			LOGAN
	Nice...

Two take cover behind a wall outside the room,
thinking they're safe. Bad idea.

Gabe fires at the wall. The pulse takes out
everything, including a wall and two terrorists.

He looks at the damage-all he can see are arms of two
terrorists. One arm drops a gun.

Logan's about to say something, doesn't. Just shakes
his head.

More terrorists coming. He sees the ladder to the
roof, climbs up.

INT. SILO LAUNCH ROOM

The room is filled with electronics. Rhoemer's
scientists prepare the final launch data. A monitor
in the back shows the Syphon Filter missile,
irresistible and calm.

Lian's bruised, tied up. Rhoemer defends his base.

			RHOEMER
		(twitches teeth)
What is the problem? Eliminate him
now! I will not my dream ruined at
	it's pinnacle!

Another soldiers' eyes widen at what he hears on his
radio.

			TERRORIST
	Commander, there are men attacking
the base! Our missile systems are all
	down!

			RHOEMER
	No...where is Dr. Yohannes?

			SCIENTIST
I do not know. He has not been back
	for some time.

			RHOEMER
	Inconceivable! It matters not. Logan
is first priority, find and kill him!

Lian's mouth isn't bruised.

			XING
Face it. He's gonna kick your ass
	when he finds you.

Rhoemer looks at her for a moment. He calmly pulls
out a knife, perfect throw to her leg.

She grimaces, doesn't scream. Rhoemer enjoyed that.

			RHOEMER
	Anger management therapy. I feel
	better already-

Lian's com-link interrupts them.

			LOGAN(VO)
Lian! Where the hell are you? We have
	to get out of here!

What goes around, comes around. He walks over, picks
it up.

EXT. MISSILE STORAGE ROOF

Snow and debris cover the roof, bathed in lunar
light. Terrorists pound on the roof entrance, fire
from below as well.

Gabe feels the pressure.

He looks out, sees the firefight below.

EXT. COMPOUND GROUNDS

The attacking Agency men lock horns with the enemy.
The firefight is somewhat even, both sides maneuver
to gain the advantage.

EXT. MISSILE CONTROL ROOF

He tears his eyes away to shout into his com-link.

			LOGAN
Lian, where are you!? Come in--

			RHOEMER (VO)
I'm sorry. You have reached a caller
	who is currently unavailable.

Gabe's shock quickly turns to anger.

			LOGAN
		(angry)
	Rhoemer! Where is she?

			RHOEMER
	In good hands.

			LOGAN
	If you've hurt her-

			RHOEMER
Too late. However, if she was your
ride, don't worry. I've sent mine to
	help you!

*TWIPTWIPTWIP*

The harmony of rotating blades. He turns around.

It's a sight that would make the Hulk become Mini-Me.

The blades slowly rise above his position, until the
chopper comes into full view.

The Devil's Chariot, armed to the teeth. Maivik's
behind the controls, shines the spotlight on Gabe.

			RHOEMER(VO)
	Grind his bones to powder!

			MAIVIK
	My pleasure.

If Gabe were smart, he'd beg for his life.

But he's mad. We're about to find out why no one
pisses him off..

Maivik fires the machine guns, Gabe ducks for cover.
He runs, barely avoids the bullets and hides behind
the Satellite dish. Maivik sees this, laughs.

INT. COCKPIT

			MAIVIK
		(readying missiles)
A wall will not save you!

He has the dish locked on, fires a missile.

EXT. MISSILE CONTROL ROOF

Gabe hears the missile launch, rolls to dodge it.

Maivik fires again, clips his leg. He feels the pain,
thrown to the side as the missile destroys his former
hiding place.

INT. COCKPIT

Maivik's blinded for a moment, stops firing. He turns
to the men in the back.

			MAIVIK
Show him the error of his ways!

The men hear his command, prepare to exit the
chopper.

EXT. MISSILE STORAGE ROOF

Gabe thinks fast, acts faster. He runs towards the
Hind-D, aims at the blades, fires once. Maivik dodges
it partly, but it clips his wings.

No effect? Only at first.

Maivik ignores it, Gabe notices a portion of the wing
is exposed. He readies to fire again-notices the
hatch open.

The men throw a rope down, slide to the roof.

			LOGAN
	Oh shit...

Maivik immediately fires, sends Gabe running for
cover. He hits "charge" on the gun, readies his HK-5
to deal with the men.

Maivik flies off to help his comrades in the
firefight.

EXT. COMPOUND GROUNDS

This fight's about to get Vlade Divac ugly.

An agent is having great success against his foes,
when he sees the Hind-D. He's in shock for moment,
yells.

			AGENT
	Get back! It's the Hind--!

The agent is cut down by the fire. The chopper wreaks
complete havoc on the attacking agents.

A group takes cover behind some barrels, Maivik
targets it with the laser cannon.

			MAIVIK
	Foolish.

The laser shoots a perfect beam, the barrels explode,
killing the men.

The tide turns, Maivik heads back to finish Gabe off.

EXT. MISSILE STORAGE ROOF

Two down, two to go. Gabe sees the Hind returning. He
takes off, both men follow.

Maivik approaches, firing at Gabe. The men chasing
Gabe die by the barrage. Logan runs towards the side
of the chopper, rolls under it.

He flies over to make another pass. He gets his gun,
still red.

			LOGAN
	 (looks at gun)
	Not yet!?

Maivik hovers for a moment.

INT. COCKPIT

Maivik targets the entire roof. Lock-On...

EXT. MISSILE STORAGE ROOF

Gabe looks out, realizes why is hasn't attacked.

He runs for the edge of the roof. The missiles reach
its' surface as he jumps.

The missiles turn the roof into a fiery memory.
Debris flies everywhere. A piece catches Gabe in the
arm as he lands on the ground.

Maivik is unsure if he got his target, makes a pass.

He's hurt, but ducks out of sight. The gun light goes
green.

Payback time. He fires three times at the damaged
wing and cockpit.

INT. COCKPIT

Maivik feels the impact, the machines guns to go
haywire, shut down. "Turrets Disabled." Maivik is
confused.

			MAIVIK
	What?!
		(presses button)
	Eat this!

EXT. COMPOUND GROUND AREA

Gabe runs under the chopper, almost gets cut in half
by the laser. He stops mid-run, the beam fries a line
in front of him.

The cannon reacquires Logan as a target, fires again.
He barely dodges the beam, jumping to the side.

One of the missiles accidentally fires and strikes a
different section of the base, causing another
explosion.

The laser cannon still gives Gabe problems, gun still
recharging.

Maivik makes another pass, wider arc. Gabe looks at
the gun, it's ready. He aims at the cockpit, shoots
once. His aim is true, stops it dead in the air.

He advances, firing again. Another direct hit takes
one of it's wings.

INT. COCKPIT

Maivik struggles with the controls. He has just
enough time to see the Agent raise his gun.

EXT. COMPOUND GROUND AREA

Last shot.

			LOGAN
	 Go back to hell!

He fires. The shot hits the cockpit, turns the Hind
into a mess of electronics and wings. It crashes
towards him.

Gabe easily moves, looks over to his left. Warehouse
23.

			LOGAN
	Rhoemer, remember Freedom Memorial?

Gabe runs to the silo entrance, shoots through the
lock, kicks the door down.

INT. SILO

Gabe, cautious, readies his HK-5.

			RHOEMER(VO)
	It is at hand!

He walks down until he finds the Launch Area door. He
walks in. sees the missile.

INT. LAUNCH AREA-GROUND ZERO

The mouth is open, the missile appears ready to
launch. A small Launch room upstairs, out of the
missile's path.

No guards, only one person, female, tied to the
missile.

Lian Xing.

			LOGAN
	 (concerned, shouting)
	Lian!

Rhoemer appears at the back of the room.

			RHOEMER
It appears we have a stand-off!

			LOGAN
Wrong again, If I shoot your ass,
	it's over.

Rhoemer is amused, points up. A GUN-MAN's over Lian.

			RHOEMER
I will never understand how you can
	be so stupid. Weapons down.

Gabe hesitates. The Gun-man sees this, steps on
Lian's leg. She moans in pain. He looks at Gabe.

He drops everything except his 9mm on his back.

			RHOEMER
Good boy. you've improved a lot. It
was wise of Markinson not to kill
	you.

			LOGAN
What? You or him never had the
	chance.

			RHOEMER
It's why I left. Do you know who's
	been pulling your strings?

Gabe can't answer, he's confused.

			LOGAN
What the hell are you talking about?

			RHOEMER
How did I get in the country with all
of my men? How'd I get to Benton?
Even if I die, these questions will
	live.

Gabe listens, rejects the idea.

			LOGAN
You're full of shit. Benton had the
integrity of a rat in a cheese
	circus.

			RHOEMER
Your sense of humor never leaves.
	Unfortunately, I must.

Rhoemer moves towards an elevator, a hall behind
him.

			LOGAN
	What's the target, Rhoemer?

He shows yellow teeth.

			RHOEMER
	Doesn't matter!

Pleased, he rides the elevator up,

			RHOEMER
The missile will launch in two
minutes. You can either chase me, or
watch her die. The choice is yours!

He takes off down the hallway.

Gabe turns to the Gun-man on Lian.

			GUN-MAN
	Don't move or I-

Too Late. He falls, victim of a head-shot.

Gabe runs to the ladder, climbs up to free Lian. She
slides in to his arms.

			XING
	Thanks.

			LOGAN
Hey, you owe me a drink.

She smirks. They climb down.

			XING
I'll get to the Launch room. There's
probably no way to stop the launch
unless we have the detonation codes.

			LOGAN
Shit. It's probably down that hallway
	that Rhoemer ran down.

			XING
Hmm, I might be able to open the
	door...

They run to the Launch Room. A computer voice.

			COMPUTER
	Launch sequence activated. Two
	minutes until launch.

The computer counts down in Russian. Gabe and Lian
make it to the Launch room.

INT. LAUNCH ROOM

They rush in. Lian finds the main computer, quickly
accesses the missile launch sequence.

			XING
Cross your fingers. Let's see if this
	will work.

She accesses the base's control system.

			XING
Go get in position, I'll let you know
	when it's open.

			LOGAN
	I'll be waiting

Gabe runs out of the room. Lian smiles.

INT. CONTROL ROOM

By a maze of computers, Rhoemer looks at one of his
men.

			RHOEMER
	Launch now!

			GUARD
	But-!

Rhoemer storms over, hits the Launch key.

INT. LAUNCH AREA-GROUND ZERO

He's halfway to the elevator, when he hears the
computer counting down...from ten.

			LOGAN
(looks up to the Launch room)
	Lian!?

			XING(VO)
Find some cover! It's about to
	launch!

			COMPUTER (RUSSIAN)
	Ten...nine...eight...seven...

Gabe looks frantically around the room.

Launch room? Too far.

The elevator? Isn't fast enough.

He spots a rapidly closing door about 15 feet away.
He sprints toward it.

			COMPUTER
	Five...four...three...

The ground trembles as the missile boosters start-up.
Gabe just makes it inside as the door closes.

			COMPUTER
	Two...one. Launch commencing!

The Missile lifts off, slow at first, then
accelerates, turning anything below it into cinder.

INT. LAUNCH ROOM DOOR

Gabe holds on as the missile shakes the floor.

INT. LAUNCH AREA-GROUND ZERO

The missile clears the roof, rises high into the sky.
The door opens, Gabe stumbles out.

He watches in horror as the missile rockets into the
night. Lian radios him from the Launch room.

			XING
Gabe, we can still stop it-you have a
minute to reach the Main Control
	room!

Gabe takes off towards the elevator. It rises, Gabe
runs down the hallway.

INT. LAUNCH AREA HALLWAY

Lian gives Gabe information as he runs down the
hallway. He has his HK-5, ready to give out pain.

			XING(VO)
There's a mainframe computer at the
back. Just put the com-link next to
it, and I'll handle the rest.

			LOGAN
	I'm on it.

Gabe reaches the Control room.

INT. CONTROL ROOM

The room has a maze of computers, several walkways on
top. Ten of Rhoemer's men on patrol. They notice the
intruder immediately.

They fire. Gabe dodges the bullets, returning fire as
he does so. He drops two, but the others' aim is
good.

Shot graze his thigh, shoulder. He winces, rolls
forward. He's almost at the back.

			LOGAN
Lian, get ready! I'm almost there!

			XING(VO)
Hurry Logan, you have 15 seconds!

Rhoemer's men don't let up. Gabe reaches the back,
they run down at him. Gabe sees the Mainframe.

He runs up to it, snatches his com-link, puts it next
to the computer. It beeps.

			LOGAN
	Lian?!

INT. LAUNCH ROOM

Lian frantically accesses the information, sends the
detonation code to the missile. The screen reads:
"Code received"

			XING
	I've got it!

EXT. ATMOSPHERE

The missile explodes, creates impressive fireworks.

INT. CONTROL ROOM

Three more guards bite the dust. He hears Lian's
voice through the link.

			XING(VO)
	The missile's destroyed, Logan. But
that heat signature will be picked up
	by the Russians-

			LOGAN
Not to mention NATO. I'm on my way!

Two shots *ZING* past Gabe's head from behind. He
takes out his gun and goes to work. Two head-shots.

One of the men's vests has a gas grenade. Before he
gets there, he hears a voice.

			RHOEMER
	Logan! Perish!

He turns, sees Rhoemer.

Sees Rhoemer's grenade launcher.

See Gabe run.

Rhoemer fires once, the shot impacts behind him,
throws him forward.

Gabe lands next to the body, takes out the grenade.
Rhoemer closes in, fires again. The shot hits the
wall where Gabe was.

			RHOEMER
	Die!

Gabe readies his throw. Rhoemer approaches, looks
around--his men are all dead, no sign of Logan.

Gabe is behind a pillar, peeks. Rhoemer in his
sights. He tosses a gun behind him, Rhoemer fires at
the decoy. Gabe rolls out.

			LOGAN
	The gag's on you.

He tosses the grenade. Rhoemer turns around, it
catches him in the chest. On impact, it releases
green nerve gas. The Leader grabs his throat,
uttering one last word.

			RHOEMER
	Logan!
		(coughs)
	Logan...!

He collapses, dead.

Gabe slumps against the wall. He's become a walking
candidate for Medicare, but his mission is finally
over.

He pats his chest once, points to the sky.

			LOGAN
	Rest in peace.

Gabe hears a muffled sound-his com-link. He finds it
amidst the rubble.

			XING(VO)
	Logan, Logan! Come in!

			LOGAN
	Mission accomplished, Lian. Let's go
	get that drink.

			XING
	Copy that, Logan.

Gabe walks to the exit. He stops for a moment, looks
around.

			LOGAN
	One more thing, Lian.

			XING
	Yes?

			LOGAN
	Where's Markinson?

			XING
	Not sure. Why?

			LOGAN
	Tell him I quit.

She chuckles a little, he continues to the exit.

				FADE OUT

FADE IN TO FOOTPRINTS IN THE SNOW

EXT. 2 MILES AWAY FROM RHOEMER COMPOUND

Footprints in the snow. They lead to Mara Aramov,
plus one.

			YOHANNES
What are we doing here? I thought you
said you were here to help!

			ARAMOV
	Of course I am.
		(points to the sky)
	Here's our ride.

A black helicopter comes down out of the sky and
lands.

			YOHANNES
	I see. Very well.

They get on. Markinson waits for them.

INT. BLACK CHOPPER

Once in the chopper, Mara gets on the video phone,
speaks to Markinson's superior, LIONEL STEVENS.

The pilot awaits orders to take off.

			STEVENS
Well done, Agent Aramov. Phase two is
	looking good.

Mara takes off her arctic gear...and a wig. Long
blond hair falls down her shoulders.

			ARAMOV
No problem. Always a pleasure for
you--although I had to wear that wig
for about 5 years too long.

			STEVENS
I'll make it up to you.

			ARAMOV
	Absolutely, pasha.
		(presses lips to screen)
	That's till I get back.

			STEVENS
	That's my girl.

			ARAMOV
	What about Logan?

			STEVENS
We're not finished with him yet.
Report back to base for debriefing.

The video screen goes dark, Mara relaxes. Markinson
turns to Professor Yohannes.

			MARKINSON
So you have the master data?

			YOHANNES
	Yes.
		(takes out a disk)
	There you go.

			MARKINSON
	Thank you. One more thing.

			YOHANNES
	Yes?

Markinson puts a gun to his face, shoots twice. He
pushes him out of the chopper. The pilot takes off.
Markinson gets on his com-link.

			MARKINSON
	Begin phase two. Now.

The helicopter takes off into the distance.

THE END
