"Coke Fishing"
By: Bojan Letic
STORY BY: Bojan Letic
INT. RUNDOWN WAREHOUSE - DAY
The warehouse is decrepid. A wasteful place. Dark, slimy and
rain pours inside through large cracks in the Ceiling.
Suddenly a Man jumps out. Slams into the wall and recharges
am M-16 he's got with him. He mumbles Unintelligibly. His
name is Slusco.
SLUSCO
...where are you you Son of a
Bitch....
He moves off the wall, towards another room.
INT. REC ROOM - DAY
Slusco inched towards the center of the room. Slowly.
Carefully. Something makes him jump. He points his gun.
It's one of his Friends, Anderson. Slusco motions to Anderson
to follow him.
Somewhere in the other rooms, gunfire, then loud screams
echo. Startled, Slusco and Anderson creep into a little
hallway.
They arrive at a T-Section. Slusco takes cover behind a Wall.
Anderson moves into the Hallway.
As Anderson stops, he is shot through the legs. Slusco blind
fires, then bolts when he's out of ammo.
INT. BUILDING STAIRS
Slusco bolts down the stairs, faster than water downhill.
INT. 1ST FLOOR WAITING HALL
He's almost made it out the door. He gets within three feet,
when -- a gun on the back of his head stops him dead cold.
SLUSCO
No....please....
A hand pulls him back to reveal -- Laura Hunter staring at
him. Dumann comes running towards them.
LAURA
No what? What were you doing there
Slusco? That is your real name i
assume?
SLUSCO
No...it's Andy. We weren't doing
nothing illegal.
LAURA
So why are we here then? Why is
half of the San Francisco Police
Department here? To buy you Coffee?
Dumann arrives. He shows Laura an Evidence Bag. It's got some
Cocaine.
LAURA (CONT'D)
What's this? Nothing illegal i
suppose.
Dumann takes out his cuffs, then cuffs Slusco. Slusco resists
at first, then stops.
DUMANN
Captain wants to see us. Well, he
wants to see you.
LAURA
What? Shut up!
INT. REC ROOM
The police have arrived. They set up yellow tapes.
Investigators are all over the scene. Laura and Dumann walk
in. Dumann hands Slusco over to another Detective, who takes
him away.
Laura Crosses under the Yellow tape. Chief Barton is looking
at some Files.
LAURA
Yes, Chief?
BARTON
What the hell do you think you're
doing? Walzing all over here, not
giving a damn about your Team
Members's safety.
LAURA
We got the suspect.
BARTON
Why didn't you get shot? It would
have made my job that much easier.
LAURA
I'll try next time.
BARTON
We got something. Remember that Two
Bit thug from the Jewel Robbery. I
don't remember his name.
LAURA
Brista! Yeah i do.
BARTON
Well, he got into it again. This
time with some Chinese Gangsters.
Stole Fifteen Thousand Dollars
worth of Jewels from them.
LAURA
Any leads on where he is?
BARTON
No. Last time he was spotted was a
week ago. Down on Haight and
Ashbury.
LAURA
Most likely was selling them there.
BARTON
You have to go and find him.
Otherwise there will be war on the
streets.
EXT. APARTMENTS - DAY
Laura's car comes to a stop. She and Dumann get out. There's
police tape blocking of the entrance to the building.
LAURA
Detectives Hunter and Dumann.
A cop takes a look on a clipboard, then waves them through.
COP
They are waiting for you on the
second Floor. Apartment 17.
Laura and Dumann disappear through the door.
INT. SECOND FLOOR - APARTMENT 17
The apartment is thrashed. Everything that should be standing
upright, isn't. Broken stuff lies on the ground. Laura
casually scans the area.
LAURA
Signs of a big Struggle. But what
for?
DUMANN
Think it was Brista?
LAURA
He's certainly one of the few who
could do this. And besides, he's
got the diamonds.
She goes into the bathroom. Dumann follows.
INT. BATHROOM
The ground is covered in blood. Two crime scene investigators
are checking for finger prints.
LAURA
So, what happened here.
INVESTIGATOR
Well, there was a big fight, is
what it looks like happened. Most
likely, the assailant got away with
whatever it was he wanted.
DUMANN
Can you tell how many guys?
INVESTIGATOR
Judging from these prints they left
behind, two, not more that three.
LAURA
Do you have the victim's name?
INVESTIGATOR
Larry Bodine. Thirty-Nine years
old. Married. Three Children.
Criminal Investigator. Also had his
own Trading Company. His head was
beaten in on the toilet bowl.
DUMANN
What about his family? Any names?
INVESTIGATOR
(flips through notebook)
His wife is Rory Bodine. She works
at the Law Firm Downtown, Johnson &
Associates.
LAURA
And their Home Address?
Laura takes a look at the body. His wallet is still there.
She sribbles some notes.
INVESTIGATOR
Last House on the Red Rock Way.
She writes it down.
LAURA
Alright Detective Albertos. We'll
be in touch if we need anything
else.
INVESTIGATOR
Ok. You know where we are.
EXT. JOHNSON & ASSOCIATES LAW FIRM - DAY
Laura's car pulls up to the front of the building. Laura and
Dumann get out. They make their way to the front door.
DUMANN
Hey Hunter. Tell me if this looks
good.
He fixes his collar up. Laura looks at him, feeling
embarassed.
LAURA
Shut up. We got to talk with the
guy's Wife.
DUMANN
Well, how about a kiss then.
LAURA
I will kiss a dead Rat before i
kiss you. How's that for a kiss?
DUMANN
Alright...jeez.
Dumann opens the door for Laura. She enters, Dumann Follows.
INT. JOHNSON & ASSOCIATES LAW FIRM
The elevator bell dings. The doors open. Laura and Dumann get
out. The sign reads Second Floor. Dumann looks around. It's
desk and Cubicle filled next to each other. Dumann freaks.
DUMANN
Oh god. We'll never find her.
LAURA
Have faith, you Five Dollar Bill
worth. She said on the West End.
INT. LAW OFFICE - CUBICLE 257
Rory Bodine works quietly on her computer. Typing documents
into the Computer. She's pretty sad, since her Husband got
killed. She doesn't hear Laura and Dumann approach.
LAURA
(Knocks on Cubicle)
Miss Bodine.
Rory turns around in her chair. Her eyes are red, probably
from lots of crying. She speaks in a crackled voice.
RORY
Yes? Who wants to know?
LAURA
Detectives Hunter and Dumann.
They both flash their Badges. Rory doesn't even look at them.
She merely gives them a flash. A tired flash.
RORY
Oh...i've already told all that i
had the strength for.
DUMANN
Just a couple of questions. That's
All.
Rory gets up and brings a chair. Laura pushes Dumann, who
stumbles over to Rory and brings another chair. Setting it
down, he is beaten to it by Laura. He sits in the other.
DUMANN (CONT'D)
Ok...do you have a boyfriend yet?
Laura slaps him on the chest. Backhanded. Dumann whinces.
Rory didn't hear his question, as she's still rifling through
the papers.
RORY
I hope you don't mind me working
while you ask questions. I'm on a
real deadline.
LAURA
No...not at all.
RORY
Would you like something to drink?
DUMANN
Coffee, if you have it.
LAURA
Sure. The same thing.
Rory picks up the Phone, dials, then tells the Secretary.
DUMANN
That's perfectly fine. Miss Bodine.
Where were you at the time of the
Incident?
RORY
I was at work. Here.
DUMANN
Do you know any reason why your
Husband would want to drive across
town to the Apartments?
RORY
No. As far as i know, he didn't
have anybody he knew there. But
then again, we didn't really bother
each other with that. They're his
friends. Mine are mine.
LAURA
Ok. What about any enemies? Did he
have a bad scrape with anybody?
Neighbor? (Scoffs) Cop? Anybody?
RORY
There was a man, kept coming from
time to time. One time they had a
short scuffle, but since then they
were fine. At that time i thought
nothing of it. He kept assuring me
it's just one of his Army buddies.
LAURA
Did he mention any names?
The secretary enters the cubicle. She's got her hands full
with the coffee on a tray, and papers in her other hand.
Dumann and Laura drink some of it.
RORY
Not that man's name. He mentioned
some guy named Andy. It's when he
went to pick his fishing gear up.
It could very well have been that
man. I never saw that Andy.
DUMANN
How long ago was that?
RORY
About two months ago. (Thinks)
yeah, something like that.
DUMANN
Do you know Andy's address?
RORY
It's somewhere in the Marina
District. Uhhh...Beach Lane...or
Street.
LAURA
Your husband's wallet was still
with him, so we know it's not just
a petty thief.
DUMANN
You have identified your Husband's
body?
RORY
(Starts to cry a little)
yes. Yesterday.
(Wipes the tears off)
i'm sorry.
LAURA
It's ok. Miss Bodine.
They get up in unison.
LAURA (CONT'D)
Miss Bodine, here is my card. If
you have any more questions, or
remember anything. Give us a call.
RORY
Ok. I will.
EXT. MARINA DISTRICT - DAY
Laura and Dumann are in the Street. Looking around. Kids play
on the street. Parents watch them from the doors and windows.
Dumann stops by a skinny, Sixties Era guy. The guy is just
about to light a Joint. Laura sees, then advances towards
him. She shows her Badge. Dumann too.
LAURA
You...
Dumann interjects her.
DUMANN
No. It's okay. It's okay.
He turns to the man, who hides the joint in his Pocket.
DUMANN (CONT'D)
What are you doing?
SIXTIES MAN
No...nothing, Sir.
DUMANN
I saw something in your hand. What
is that?
SIXTIES MAN
Nothing. Piece of paper.
Uuuuh...new Girlfriend's Address.
DUMANN
I don't think so. But listen. I
need to know who this guys Andy is.
He supposedly lives around here.
SIXTIES MAN
I don't know any andy.
DUMANN
Look, what do you want? I know you
know him. Don't tell me you don't.
You want more of the stuff you're
Smoking? I can get it for you.
Laura stares at Dumann. She moves closer.
LAURA
What are you doing?
DUMANN
Shut up.
(To Sixties Man)
So, what's it going to be?
The Sixties Man loves the Idea.
SIXTIES MAN
I do know an Andy as a matter of
fact. He lives in the Building
across the street. Two floors up.
Apartment 415.
Dumann writes the information down. He winks to the man.
DUMANN
Thanks. Here's a card of one of my
friends at the Department. Tell him
i sent you, he'll hook you up.
Don't worry. He's legit.
Dumann pulls Laura by the sleeve. Laura stares at the Man,
then at Dumann.
LAURA
Have you gone crazy, you Idiot?
DUMANN
No, why?
LAURA
You offer him Marijuana for
Information. Only an Idiot like you
does that.
They enter the Apartment Building.
INT. APARTMENTS
Laura and Dumann knock on the Door Number Four Fifteen. After
a moment, a man opens.
He stares at Laura. She stares back, then flashes her Badge.
LAURA
What are you looking at? Jail time.
MAN
Who are you?
LAURA
Detectives Hunter and Dumann. We're
here to ask you some questions.
MAN
Alright. Shoot.
LAURA
Is a Mr. Andy here?
ANDY
I'm Andy. What do you want?
LAURA
Where have you been two days ago at
approximately 12 P.M?
ANDY
I was at my sister's house. Moving
in. Call and Confirm.
LAURA
Do you have her number?
ANDY
Yeah. 555-7676. What is this about?
LAURA
Two days ago, a man named Larry
Bodine was killed. His head was
beaten on the Toilet Bowl. We have
made connections, linking him and
you.
ANDY
Wow, what a way to go? I know him.
Sold him fishing gear, hunting
stuff. That's all. But i didn't
kill him if that's what you're
implying.
LAURA
Were you having problems with each
other?
ANDY
No. But he did sometimes work with
a man, i don't know his name. He's
a real violent man. He supposedly
works theft most of the time. His
name might be dreser or something.
LAURA
Could it be Dresden?
ANDY
Yeah, yeah, that's it. Have you
heard of him?
LAURA
I might have. In any case, i'm
after him. Did you hear anything
more about Mr. Bodine?
ANDY
No. That's pretty much it.
Andy swallows pretty hard. Dumann notices, but doesn't say
anything. Andy looks at him, suspiciously.
LAURA
Well, if you change your mind and
you do want to speak to us. Here's
my card and number.
She hands him her Card. Andy takes it, looks it over and
pockets it. Laura and Dumann leave.
EXT. STREET
Laura and Dumann get into the car.
INT. CAR
Dumann turns the radio on and then the volume. Laura lowers
the volume.
LAURA
Not now. I have to think.
DUMANN
Oh come on. Will you give me a kiss
at least.
LAURA
Why don't you kiss my ass?
DUMANN
Take off your pants. Come on.
Laura disregards the answer. She's in deep thought.
LAURA
Did it seem to you like there's
more to Andy than we saw?
DUMANN
Yeah, why?
LAURA
I don't know. He had a funny tone.
Let's go home.
DUMANN
Alright!
LAURA
Don't be thinking anything strange.
I go to my home, you to yours.
EXT. FULTON STREET - ANNIE'S HOT DOGS & PRETZELS - DAY
Traffic is backed up. All lanes are taken up. Drivers are
honking. Laura is waiting by the Hot Dog stand. She pays and
the man hands her one.
LAURA
Thanks. You know, i haven't had one
of these in a long time.
She takes a bite and walks to a chair. She stops in the
middle, walks back and orders Two more. Then she sits on the
chair and watches the Traffic and Passersby.
An Elderly man, in his late Seventies, takes a seat next to
her. Laura smiles at him. He takes his hat off.
ELDERLY MAN
It's painful to watch such a young
life poisoned with Hot Dogs.
Laura looks at him then at the Hot Dog. She looks back at the
Man.
LAURA
Do you want one?
ELDERLY MAN
No, i don't eat that Stuff. I have
tried it...once. Back in 1918. I
was only Six. My mother found out,
and the rest i don't have to tell
you.
LAURA
I hear they are the best here.
ELDERLY MAN
You're here for something else,
aren't you?
LAURA
Like what?
ELDERLY MAN
To think. Sit, relax and think
about things.
LAURA
Somewhat like that.
ELDERLY MAN
The man you're looking for? What
did he do?
Curious, laura moves closer to the man.
LAURA
Who told you about that?
ELDERLY MAN
It's ok. The man you're looking
for, Dresden Brista? He's down at
the Marina. He works there. It is
believed he killed Four men down
there today.
Laura leans back.
LAURA
Well, Brista or No Brista. I'm off
duty. But this Hotdog isn't gonna
eat itself.
The cook brings laura her other dog.
LAURA (CONT'D)
Thanks.
Off the corner of her eye, she spots Dumann, getting into his
car with a Woman. They drive by the Hot Dog Stand, where
Laura is.
ELDERLY MAN
It's marvelous, how much you care
about your job.
LAURA
I do. I do. But this (Shows him the
Hot Dog) is my job now.
ELDERLY MAN
Then i'll not bother you anymore.
Laura kindly nods to him.
INT. SAN FRANCISCO POLICE DEPARTMENT - DAY
Barton comes to Laura's desk.
BARTON
Hunter. We have some new leads. Go
find out what you can.
LAURA
Why don't you send Dumann?
BARTON
He's not here. And this is your
case.
LAURA
Damn it. Give me the Files.
She reluctantly takes the files.
EXT. TURK STREET - DAY
Laura stops behind a man. The man is watering plants. He
turns up the water pressure.
LAURA
Hello Mr....
MAN
Yes. You looking for something?
Laura flashes her badge. The man glances at it,
uninterestedly.
MAN (CONT'D)
You won't find it here.
LAURA
Where could i find Mr. Larry
Bodine's friend. The one who sold
him a car, a few months ago?
MAN
Certainly not here. Do i have a Car
Lot here? No, so you can go now.
The man turns off the water. He folds the hose, then takes a
hand shovel. He begins rifling through a bag. He finds little
bags of seeds. He places them on the table.
LAURA
I'm gonna have to book you then.
Accomplice to murder.
The man takes a pot, it has a big purple bush of flowers. He
carefully moves the flowers around, planting them into
another, much bigger pot.
MAN
Sure. Then you can let me go, once
we're at the station.
LAURA
What's that supposed to mean?
MAN
I didn't do nothing wrong, man. You
always pick innocent people like
this?
LAURA
Only if they're guilty. I think you
had a motive. You sold the car, he
didn't have money to pay you, you
break his head in two.
MAN
No, he paid me alright. But there
was something else. There was a guy
that came here some Four or Five
days after i sold the car. He
demanded that i take the car back
and sell it to him.
LAURA
What did he look like?
MAN
Short. Stocky. He spoke with a very
heavy accent.
LAURA
Anything else he wanted? How does
he know you and Mr. Bodine?
MAN
Business mostly. We sell him
discounted stuff. Under the radar.
Nothing Illegal of course.
After the man left, and he left
furiously, another one showed up.
This one was quick to anger, when i
said the car was sold. It was only
after that when i learned that i
sold a collectible car worth
millions.
He plants he last flower, then puts the pot in his green
house. He closes the door. Laura is jotting down notes.
MAN (CONT'D)
Can't take it back now.
LAURA
Any idea where this man lives?
MAN
No. Saw him a couple of times.
Didn't leave a name or address.
INT. SECOND FLOOR - APARTMENT 17
Laura is in the crime scene again. She's writing on her
notepad. Dumann walks in, startles her. She elbows him, and
Dumann winces.
LAURA
What's wrong with you, you Idiot?
DUMANN
I need some lovin from you, sexy
Mama.
Dumann puts his arm around her shoulders. Laura throws it
off.
LAURA
Look. Brista is Knee Deep in this.
I talked to some guy today. Barton
gave me a lead. The guy said
Brista, he didn't use the name but
i knew. He said Brista came to him
a few days after he sold some car
and that Brista demanded the return
of the car, so it can be sold to
him.
DUMANN
You mean the old rustic thing he
sold? I drove by that day with my
girl. That thing looked lots better
than this guy here.
LAURA
The old rustic thing happens to be
worth millions.
Laura bends down and inspects something.
LAURA (CONT'D)
Look at this.
Dumann catches a glimpse of her Butt. He continues staring.
DUMANN
I'm looking.
She picks up a blood stained card. It reads: FULLER EXPORTS.
LAURA
I wonder why he would have this
with him?
DUMANN
Maybe they were doing some kind of
business. Away from Society's eyes.
LAURA
Maybe. But, why exports?
INT. FULLER EXPORTS - DAY
In the waiting hall, Laura and Dumann wait for somebody.
Laura picks up a magazine and shuffles the pages. She stops
on an Perfume Ad. Dumann messes with the soda machine. It
eats his money every time he puts money in.
Irritated, he gets a soda and chips. He sits next to Laura,
opens the Chips and Soda, then offers to Laura. She declines
coldly.
LAURA
I hope you die from that stuff.
DUMANN
Not in a million years.
LAURA
Yeah, we'll see.
An Assistant opens the Waiting Room door. She stands on the
side, allowing guests to pass.
ASSISTANT
Detectives Hunter and Dumann. Mr.
Wallace is ready to speak with you.
Laura and Dumann get up. Dumann makes note to offer again.
Laura pushes it off.
LAURA
Stop. I don't want a Heart Attack.
They disappear through the door. The Assistant closes the
door.
INT. WALLACE'S OFFICE
Wallace is waiting for them. He smiles professionally, as he
shakes hands with Laura and Dumann. He motions them to sit.
WALLACE
Welcome to my Company, Detectives.
How can i help you?
LAURA
We need to find out about Mr. Larry
Bodine. We hear that he was in good
Business Relations with you.
WALLACE
Yes. We did some business in early
80. Then business picked up Three
Years ago again. Business was
Excellent.
Dumann shifts in his chair. He leans forward.
DUMANN
Why would he break off with you for
Six Years? You said business was
excellent.
WALLACE
Supposedly it was something about
his wife. She was sick, or
something. He needed time off. I
told him to come back whenever he
wanted to do business again.
LAURA
What about any other business
Partners?
WALLACE
I have many others.
DUMANN
How about Dresden Brista?
WALLACE
I don't work with criminals
anymore. I learned that lesson the
hard way. If i ever get my hands on
brista....
LAURA
What happened?
WALLACE
He and some guy named Pimentel came
to me Four years ago. Did some
deals. One the last deal, something
went wrong and they stiffed me out
of almost Three Hundred Thousand.
LAURA
Do you think Brista might have a
motive to kill your Partner?
WALLACE
Oh yeah. Brista always has a
different agenda. But coupled with
his hatred of Brock, from the
fishing shop, he's liable to kill
many. I'm surprised he hasn't
killed anybody yet.
LAURA
Who is Brock?
WALLACE
Former partner in crime. He did
some time. Ratted Brista and
Pimentel out. Now he has his own
fishing shop.
INT. LAURA'S HOUSE - DAY
Laura is in the kitchen. She's cooking and baking. Dumann is
in the Living Room. He's fiddling with the Remote.
LAURA
But nothing's 100 percent. It's
always 60-40.
DUMANN
Is that why you're a gambling
woman?
LAURA
Take the plunge, admit your
mistakes, move on to tomorrow.
You're a freak anyway. Why deny the
truth any longer?
DUMANN
Your eyes are puffy. Did you take
Valium again?
LAURA
It's none of your business. But you
smell like an armpit. And why are
you at my house?
DUMANN
You invited people over to watch
the big game.
LAURA
I didn't realize i had to suck up
to Idiots.
INT. POLICE DEPARTMENT - COPY ROOM
Dumann makes his way in the semi full hallway past rack after
rack of files and folders. Ahead of him we see the flashing
green light of a Xerox machine.
INT. COPY ROOM
The light goes off. Laura leans over the machine, bangs on
it.
LAURA
Damn it!
DUMANN
Are you done. I gotta scan my ass.
Got some ladies waiting.
Surprised, Laura turns to Dumann.
LAURA
What are you doing here, Dumann?
DUMANN
I got to scan some files. What did
you think?
LAURA
My last file is in there. The
goddamn machine jammed.
DUMANN
Lift up the Front Feed cover. Then
look past the Side Winder....
LAURA
Don't overwhelm me with details,
you know how I hate that. Get it
fixed.
DUMANN
I thought you did.
LAURA
You really are asking to get
killed. Aren't you?
DUMANN
I'm asking for a date. Long time
now too.
LAURA
Keep asking.
She turns and leaves.
LAURA (CONT'D)
And fix the goddamn machine.
EXT. BROCK'S FISH & ACCESSORIES - DAY
Laura and Dumann are at the foot of the door. It's closed.
Laura knocks. No answer. She knocks again. No answer.
She looks at Dumann. Dumann rings the bell. A face appears.
The man sees the flashing Badges. He suddenly bolts.
LAURA
(To Dumann)
Go that way. Hurry.
Laura takes the left path. Dumann the right.
As Laura runs along the side of the House, there is Clanging
inside the House. She slows at each Window, covering herself.
Dumann runs, then jumps over an overturned thrash can. He
comes to an open door. From the distant end of the store,
somebody shoots. Dumann shoots back.
Laura hears the shots. She runs faster, drawing her gun.
LAURA (CONT'D)
Dumann! What the Hell?
Dumann has come to the distant corner. Nobody is there. On
the other side, Laura turns up. They're both out of breath.
A man jumps over a fence. Dumann shoots and catches him in
the leg. The man falls against the Fence. Laura and Dumann
run to him.
DUMANN
(Out of Breath)
Alright. LAPD! Put your hands up.
Fis your leg. And come with us.
LAURA
What were you doing here?
MAN
I ain't telling you a damn thing.
LAURA
You better tell me something, or
your leg will never heal. What is
your name?
The man resists for a long moment. Laura stares into his
eyes.
MAN
Brock Wilson. I run....it's My
store here.
LAURA
Yeah....why'd You run, Brock?
BROCK
Got to take a leak.
DUMANN
With a gun in your hand?
BROCK
It's California. People around here
call it KillerFornia!
Dumann looks unfazed by Brock's comments.
DUMANN
You sell Fishing Rods?
BROCK
Fishing Accessories. And Hunting
Accessories too.
DUMANN
Ok. Was there recently a man named
Andy or Larry Bodine here?
BROCK
No, mostly locals here.
LAURA
Man, (Pulls her gun on him), tell
me everything.
Brock grips his leg. He winces a little. Dumann kneels beside
him, then takes a look at the wound.
DUMANN
Don't worry. It'll be fine. Go on.
BROCK
After Dresden Brista came to my
store, Larry Bodine came with a
proposal. Now, since i make all my
Rods, he suggested to produce
hollow rods. It cut down on the
weight of the rod drastically.
Business picked up. Few months
later, Bodine comes to me and Buys
Ten of them.
LAURA
Go on.
BROCK
Now, i figure this guy's not a
sports fisher. He ain't gonna use
all them sticks. He tells me then
that a business propsition is being
called up. We can use the rods to
smuggle Cocaine and Gold. Initially
they started pushing diamonds too.
Nobody ever caught on. Brista was
the mastermind. Bodine wanted out,
but Brista had more plans for him.
Bodine declned, and Brista killed
him.
DUMANN
What about Pimentel?
BROCK
Afraid that their Deal was gonna
push into Pimentel's territory,
they started paying him Heavy
Royalties. They knew Pimentel's not
one to mess with.
DUMANN
Why didn't anybody report it?
BROCK
And bring the whole thing out on
the streets? Half the SFPD force is
in on it. How do you think the cops
didn't find out?
LAURA
God Damn. You really fooled all of
us. Where is Brista now?
BROCK
He fled the scene. Nobody knows
where he is now.
Laura picks Brock up by his arm. Dumann helps her.
LAURA
Ok, you're under arrest. I don't
have time for your rights. But you
already know them.
INT. POLICE DEPARTMENT - LOCKUP
