Over on the Unproduced Scripts page there are 18 original scripts up. Among them is Flash by Charles – Four girls driving on Halloween are chased after they flash at a car with no headlights on. It is a short script – 10 pages, in RTF format. It is an interesting take on the Gang High-beam Initiation urban legend. The premise is good. The execution does need some work – the usual – formatting needs to be cleaned up. Spelling, punctuation and grammar need a once over. The ending of the script is clever, however the discussion at the end seems to come out of nowhere. This is a good first draft that needs a lot of work, but shows promise.

The One Week Challenge was announced Friday night. The theme: Carving a jack-o-lantern, the genre: Comedy. A lot of folks who were keen on having a horror genre this go round were disappointed. The horror writers are a passionate bunch. I’m not expecting a lot of entries for this month’s OWC and I’m cool with that. Fewer writers in a smaller pool of submission means that your chance of getting your script selected to be read by iScript.com has just gone up. Who knows, maybe come the April OWC I’ll pick horror as the genre and piss off all the comedy writers on the site… There have been a couple of entries already for the challenge and as usual, and much to my delight, there is a broad interpretation of theme. So, if you think you can write a 12 page, properly formatted comedy script about carving a jack-o-lantern, you have until Friday, October 5th at midnight to submit it to the October ’07 OWC page. – Don
