The Lego Movie script - post author Don

Thanks “Wes” for the heads up on this one:

LEGO The Piece of Resistance (filmed as The Lego Movie) – undated, unspecified draft script by Chris Miller & Phil Lord – hosted by: The Screenplay Database – in pdf format

The LEGO Movie is a 3D animated film which follows lead character, Emmet a completely ordinary LEGO mini-figure who is identified as the most “extraordinary person” and the key to saving the Lego universe. Emmet and his friends go on an epic journey to stop the evil tyrant, Lord Business.

Bonus – The The Magic Portal (referred to as the Tunnel of Light in the script) is an homage to one of the first “Brickfilms”

And, in a fit of nepotism, my son’s first brickfilm, The Shadow Thief

Hey Don;

Yes! Thank you for posting this one. I’m a huge fan of the animated movies! I went and saw this with my kid’s a few weeks back, and it blew my mind. It was synonymous with the first time I saw Star Wars back in ’78…ya, it was that cool! Anyways, I’ve been doing a deep internet mine for this (script) ever since then. Thanks for putting this up!

Rick,

I, too, am a fan of Lego and the movie. I thought it was really well done, tho initially, I had to be convinced to see the movie. I’m glad I went.

This is NOT the version of the screenplay that was used for 2014’s ‘Lego The Movie’. Does anyone know where to get that one?
