Breanne Mattson’s “Tormentor” Optioned Through InkTip
Richard Schwartz and Producer/Director F. Javier Gutierrez optioned the feature script Tormentor from Breanne Mattson, and are currently developing the property as an official untitled F. Javier Gutierrez project.
This is a big step for writer Breanne. Although she’s had a couple short films produced, a couple of independently optioned feature scripts and has been hired as a writer onto a couple other projects, this is her first “Hollywood” option at the studio-level. While describing “Tormentor,” a thriller with sci-fi elements, Breanne related the following: “It involves time travel but it’s actually a rather simple and straightforward story. It raises questions about life and death that I don’t think any movie of its type has ever done before…” Congratulations to Breanne Mattson!
Congratulatory messages can be posted here
{disclaimer: As usual, Ms. Mattson’s success is due to her hard work and tenacity. SimplyScripts had nothing to do with her success. – Don}

Julia,
are you trying to be funny or are you serious?
If you’re serious, I don’t think that was a very nice comment at all…

Is the comment not nice because it’s completely accurate? There is a tendency to feature SOME scripts on the front page, SOME short films, and of course you ALWAYS exhibit Script Girl’s cleavage. Now if these are facts don’t you think it’s not nice you don’t give everyone a fair shot on the front page. I don’t think your hypocritical tendencies are nice but you go right ahead and do them anyway. Maybe you should consider giving everyone a chance. I am aware that you don’t so….

Script Girl reports the latest deals in hollywood which is something every aspiring screenwriter should be aware of.
If you think she’s being exibited just because her tits, you missed the point completely.

So — Don decides to highlight genuinely good news about SimplyScripts members who actively and regularly participate to the well-being of the site —
— as opposed to random, bitchy comments from some random, bitter stranger —
— and this is a problem why?
I love Breanne. I love Script Girl. I even love Don.
Julia? Eh…not so much.

Erm…in the interests of full disclosure, “Anonymous” up there is me. Guess I was so filled with righteous indignation, I forgot to fill in the name.
Also, I hasten to add that my love for Don is, like, of the very manly sort…you know?

“Script Girl reports the latest deals in hollywood which is something every aspiring screenwriter should be aware of.”
That may be true, but I have to agree with Julia in that respect. I don’t watch her vids and it’s only due to the degrading level she has put herself. If you want to be serious about scripts, then don’t try to sell implants.

Script Girl takes the industry head-on!
Looking forward to your next report!

Do we know if Script Girl offers transcripts of her video reports? I agree the information is valuable, but the delivery is a bit… unwholesome.

Don can do whatever he wants. I’m merely stating that he employs favoritism. No bitterness here. NOY every script writer on the site gets their work on the front page and you have all basically said the same thing. So thank you.
Stating the truth hardly makes me bitter, but your juvenile remarks highlights your own bitterness.
And it looks others have similar comments about Script Girl’s cleavage.
WHOA, what a concept. Voicing my opinion.

Julia: “I’m merely stating that he employs favoritism…NOY [sic] every script writer on the site gets their work on the front page…”
Not every writer does what’s necessary to make the front page. This article is a news story, not a plug for my script.
The Soul Shadows series was designed to cultivate member involvement. All any writer needs to do to have a script featured is volunteer to write for the Soul Shadows series. Or participate in any one of the One Week Challenges that are regularly held.
Don can’t possibly feature the scripts of every member on the front page. Then it wouldn’t be the front page. It would be the regular section. But Don does have a script-of-the-day that features randomly selected members’ scripts.
You also made an accusation of nepotism. What evidence do you have for that? I’m not related to Don.
You have a right to your opinion but your accusations of favoritism and nepotism are completely without merit.

NEPOTISM- bestowal of patronage in consideration of relationship, rather than of merit or of legal claim.
That’s the definition, so you don’t have to be related to Don
My accusations of favoritism and nepotism are completely WITH merit, since like YOU and so many OTHERS are stating, some scripts get featured on the front page, some don’t.
The same is true for which short scripts that are turned into films are published on the front page.
Since their is a selective process that is known only to Don and not to anyone else, then the fact their IS favoritism is pretty much on the mark. You’ve kind of supported by again stating that everyone’s script is not featured.
TA-DA: Favoritism

I’ve never had a script featured on the front page, and I’ve never had a script chosen as script of the day, yet I’ve never felt left out due to favoritism. Not once. Simply put Julia, I think you are jealous of Breanne and Script Girl.

OK — so Don needs to post every single script and short film in the whole world on his front page — since apparently that is the only thing that does not count as favoritism?
Since that is obviously impossible and absurd, Don selects items that he thinks will be of interest to the SimplyScripts community.
His selection process is no more or less an act of favoritism than your decision not to buy every single item in the grocery store when you go shopping.
What in the heck are you even asking for here, Julia? If you continue to conceal whatever ax it is that you are grinding, you will find few sympathetic ears.

Sympathetic ears would require people capable of listening. Not too many of those types on here. No real ax to grind and your shopping analogy is a rather poor one. Simply put scripts are picked every day and posted on the front page which obviously helps those writers get their work seen at a greater capacity.
How the scripts are selected is mysterious and yet how is that fair to all the writers who submit and never get their work selected?
Only Don knows what he wants. How this is favoritism is does Don honestly read every script that’s submitted on this site? No. So since not every script is read yet selective scripts are posted well this pretty much defines favoritism. Which pretty much every one has agreed on some level.

Julia,
have you ever visited the forums? If you have you’d understand why some things end up on the front page…
