I should probably clarify the thing about Charlie only ever writing one draft before he turns it in.

Even when a screenwriter writes eighty drafts before he hands a script to an agent for the first time, that script will reach the agent as “1st draft.” (Most folks visiting this site would probably know that, anyway.)

I stand corrected.

My right of reply, though: Yes, I’ve tried to get the script to people to publish. I thought I was doing everyone a favor. I was excited. I even gave it to Variety, online. I got the script from a friend at UTA because he/she knows I like to read his scripts. I never asked for money from Mick, nor Don, for it.

I don’t know why everyone has to be a smart arse about it? Leaks, scoops, whatever you want to call them happen because people are willing to share private things. I had no idea it wasn’t his script. I’m still not entirely sure it isn’t.

Perhaps if Mick at “being charlie kaufman” was as close to Kaufman as he’d wish he was, he’d get him to come on his site and say it isn’t his script.

Prove, it isn’t his. So far all you’ve added is conjecture.

I just finished reading it and I have to say it ain’t bad. Made me cry at the end. I could very well think it was a Charlie Kaufman screenplay. It’s as if he’s laughing at himself for all the other stuff he’s done in his screenplays before. Yeah -just as I say that – I’m thinking this is a joke on us that it is his screenplay and he’s laughing at us and at himself. How fucked up is that, if it’s true? Also the spelling if F–ken is used in the Australian vernacular as oppose to F—kin in the American. So maybe he hasn’t really made a mistake. What do I think? I Charlie Kaufman is playing us…

Not sure why you posted this. This is obviously not Kaufman as it is so poorly written. A look at the properties of the pdf file show it belongs to Mike and Mary Galea. I think perhaps your friend in Australia is trying to have a bit of fun and that by posting this and the fake efforts to propagate it, you are only encouraging this juvenile attempt at a hoax.

I’ve written 4 screenplays. I have them up for sale. I haven’t gotten any replies, so I’m going to make them into manuscripts and sell them as books. If Hollywood would just stop spitting the same old …same old. Then we screenwriters would have a chance!
