Movie Poet October winners announced - post author Don

A couple of SimplyScripts regulars got honorable mentions in the October Movie Poet short contest. Participants were asked to write a five page screenplay on the theme of “Chemestry” – Write a love story and name it after an element from the periodic table. The love must be between people (no aliens, animals, or inanimate objects) and the title must be the name of the element and not its symbol (Hydrogen not H).

The winners were:

“Mendelevium” by Erich VonHeeder ~ First Place
A “Battle of the Bands” helps two lead singers find love.

“Platinum” by Sally Meyer ~ Second Place
To celebrate her anniversary, Agnes Summersby decides to try a little something different.

“Neon” by Travis DeStein ~ Third Place
An old man speaks to his love in the twilight of life.

Congrats to Travis DeStein for his third place finish.

Congrats to Matias Caruso and Michael Cornetto for their honorable mentions.

Each month, Movie Poet runs a free online five page screenplay contest. On the first of each month a new contest is announced. During that month, you can enter your script. During the next month, you can read, vote, and comment on all the entries. Finally, during the third month, the results are announced.

Head on over to Movie Poet and give it a go. – Don
