Focus! Invalid Directive! Twenty-six more original scripts - post author Don

Lots of chatter on the October One Week Challenge. You have four more days to crank out your 13 page Young Adult Horror script about an October 31st community invasion that everyone, except these two kids, thinks is a hoax.

There are 28 scripts up on the Unproduced Scripts page. Two are about loss. Cindy has a re-write of Focus about a woman who loses her job and Mr. Z has Invalid Directive about an undefeated chess champion who loses his first chess match. – Don

Stand by the for the Topic and Genre of the OWC - post author Don

If you are reading this that means I couldn't get the cool graphic of iScript.com to show up in the email. iScript.com is sponsoring the SimplyScripts.com One Week Challenge this month. Click on what should have been a cool image and check them out. Man, this is really embarrassing.

The October One Week Challenge is coming up!

For those of you unfamiliar with the One Week Challenge, it’s an excercise to see how well you work under pressure. Imagine of a director came up to you and asked you to write a short script based upon an idea that he/she has and you have one week to write it. Could you do it? Of course you can.

The rules for the challenge are:

  • It is free!
  • You have one week to write a thirteen (13) page (or less) script
  • The script MUST be in a generally accepted screenplay format.
  • Do not put your name on the script. For the first week or so, the scripts will not have the writers’ name on it so no one can pick favorites.
  • Please do put © Copyright 2008 on your script!
  • Submission due: October 17th at 11:59 pm EDT
  • Remember this is a Challenge, not a contest – there are no prizes.

Be sure and visit SimplyScripts at 11:59 pm on October 10th to find out what the Theme and Genre will be.

The Schedule:

Genre and Theme announced: October 10, 2008 11:59 pm

Submissions Due: October 17, 2008

Submissions posted to the site – Starting October 20 without names.

October 31st, visit SimplyScripts to read and hear the selected script.

One script will be selected by some as yet to be determined criteria (either I pick, I get a screenwriter to pick or some kind of voting) and it will be recorded (assuming the writer gives permission to have his work recorded and posted to the site for a month) in MP3 format by the fine folks at iScript.com.

This One Week Challenge is sponsored by iScript.com – Lets You “Hear Your Script”

Scripts into mp3s! You upload a script – they record it using professional readers and picky sound editors – you download your iScript! Burn CDs, listen on your iPod, submit it to execs, producers, agents. Now people can hear your script while driving, jogging or relaxing. Click here to learn more! —

Flightless aquatic birds, sex-rays and other original scripts - post author Don

Twenty-seven original scripts on the Unproduced Scripts page. We have Sex-Rays which is explanation enough. Also, there are Bad Penquin which is the first feature I’ve seen from Phil in a long time. But is it a feature or twenty-seven 5 page shorts strung together to form a feature? You decide on the Unproduced Scripts page. –
