My name is Carlos, I am currently attending school at the Art Institute of Dallas for their Video Production program, I used to attend the Art institute of Washington D.C. but had to move and scheduling and difficulties with transportation made me miss an entire year, and now found the opportunity to return to school in Dallas. I have only taken intro classes and I’m now taking the intro. scriptwriting class and am at a lost, I have never written scripts before, just papers for school. I am being asked to write a 20 to 25 page script which I cannot find any ideas, I want to become an editor, but need to learn the other aspects of the industry and have at least a basic knowledge of how they work, I understand that, but I’m not the kind of person that comes up with ideas of characters, I like taking stories or footage and coming up with ways to tell the story in an interesting and cool way to show what the writer and director are trying to show to the viewer. I would really appreciate some tips or steps on how to begin to develop characters, think of stories, put it in the correct format. any help would be greatly appreciated that can help someone who has never written a script.
Thank you, and God Bless you.

I tell ALL my writers this. go to drudgereport.com and just SCAN the headlines. Something will ATTRACT you and make you think: what if? Here’s an example; MAN MARRIES WOMAN, POSTS WEDDING PICTURES ON FACE BOOK AND FIRST WIFE, to WHOM HE IS STILL MARRIED FINDS OUT. Now, what if ….? off you go….
